Pandemic was obviously a special situation. However I note and respect Maik's response with the caveat that on the German forum referenced earlier, other builders/publishers do seem to have had better luck sourcing the sound. As it's 40 years since I travelled on a 628 (from Reutte In Tyrol to Kempten) in all honesty it could probably alias to a Volvo coach and I couldn't say if it was correct or not, so will take as is. After reflecting on the situation I think the beauty and unique nature of this route makes it worthy of support and the sound we will just have to live with. i would hope however that efforts will be ongoing to source the correct sound and at some stage update the DMU. Cross posted with my conciliatory response above. However I would just say for a DMU you can probably get away with this, but think there would be a furore if (say) a Class 37 had been released with sound aliased to the Class 47. This was a massive issue in the early days of MSTS and to some extent still is in Trainz (all the DMU's that sound like an Alco or GM567) and for a programme that is billing itself as a simulation then like it or not, correct or as near to correct as dammit, audio is very important. There could indeed be a case in the unlkely event DTG decided to make one of the old LMS diesel locos which no longer exist or a Cravens DMU similarly none preserved and in that case we would accept the closest possible alias. However where a prototype still exists or there are reference recordings, in return for for the paycheck the very best efforts should be carried out to ensure a good sound experience.
