There seems to be something fundamentally wrong with Light Clouds weather on Niddertalbahn for me - it is extremely taxing on PC. I expected worse performance due to detail level of the route, but my RTX 3060 should be able to deal with it easily.

If I play with Light Clouds weather, I cannot get over 15 FPS even if I go as low as "Low" graphical preset and downscaled to 1080p (instead of 1440p). If I move camera in such way that no part of sky is visible, I get back to 60 FPS set as ceiling. Sometimes the world fails to render completely, and hangs when rapidly changing camera or even straight at the loading screen before spawning, crashing to desktop with UE error that render thread was not able to finish within 120 second timeout.

If I play with Clear weather, I get stable 40 FPS even with everything on Ultra setting and some Engine.ini shenanigans.

I do not have Linke Rheinstrecke, if it's related to layers. I did not try other weathers, but could replicate the Light Clouds problem consistently across different months/seasons.

Did two full runs of the route with light clouds on PS4, no issues whatsoever.

Me too, and ive run in light clounds and Changed the weather via god mode during the journey, currently no ini modifications, and almost always at around 40-50 FPS.

Maybe youve some lighting mods installed?

I’m on a GTX1650. It’s a bit stuttery and I suspect the high density foliage is taking a toll on frame rate but not unplayable. Not crashed on me… yet (famous last words and all).

    Hi noir ,

If you have been editing the game files, then this is likely why you are experiencing frame rate issues. The route has been optimised to work best with the default ".ini" settings. As mentioned above, some PCs may struggle if the Foliage Quality setting too high.

If you need any further assistance, please send a copy of your DxDiag file and screenshots of your in-game graphical settings to Dovetail Support and we will advise.

Ah, I see that I didn't write it explicitly - it persisted even upon reverting to original ini with no significant change. I will investigate further and post an update if necessary, just as it seemed consistently reproducible for me I thought about posting it asap to get it to first round of fixes if others had same problem.

It felt like there was way too many small clouds in the sky (I didn't change the cloud level bar, just clicked on custom weather and light clouds), like, dozens, maybe a hundred, which would explain the computational and rendering problems. I'll see if it persists or if that was just a couple of bad RNG or maybe installation issue. Thanks for the reply though.
