More of a prog rock than metal fan, but have got a couple of their older albums in the collection so might check it out.

Hadn’t listened to much Nightwish since the Once era but gave this a go and really enjoyed it.

I have stayed with them through it all :) ... and while Dark Passion Play was clearly meant for Tarja, I still thoroughly enjoyed it... Imaginaerum was where Anette was finally allowed to shine - tho as someone who has followed her career also post-NW, it is now clear that both Jani Liimatainen (especially on second Dark Element CD and on his solo thing) and Magnus Karlsson (Heart Healer, Allen/Olzon, Olzon solo) have been much better matches for her abilities... she really came into her own on their releases (really recommend latest Allen/Olzon CD)

when they took in Floor I was like woah they literally fulfilled a symphonic metal fan's wet dream :D ... and I like all their releases with her so far... one might argue her potential is not used properly on those, but while I agree she could be used more heavily, I can also say that on older After Forever CDs, the quality of stuff wasnt as consistent as now :)

literally the only writer who utilized her better is Arjen Lucassen on older Ayreon releases :)

oh, and those of you who checked out Auri (side thing of Tuomas, Troy and Johanna, Tuomas' wife and a great singer with a honey-like voice) will also notice that Sway, Hiraeth and a bit also Lanternlight have noticeable Auri influence in there :)

all in all, a nice piece of music, although if I was to compare new NW to new releases by Leah or Elvellon, I would go for Elvellon :)
