Just now, I was running Nightjet 421 (the auto-sleeper) from Kassel to Würzburg on a BR101 , when some kind of issue arose.

I was trailing a freight train up ahead, had just crossed the river Main at Gemünden, and I was making the climb towards the next Bbf when, as I passed a darkened signal (one of several I had passed up until that point) LZB just shut off. The "Ü" darkened, the "B" remained lit, and the "85" came on. There was no alert of any malfunction, and no "STÖR" was indicated; just the short buzz of LFB updating its display and then vanishing.
Because I was unsure of the distance until the block held by the freight train, nor of its speed, I brought the train to a stop in the tunnel. After resetting PZB/LFB I tried to get underway again, but AFB wouldn't release the locomotive's brakes. Only after disabling AFB would the train get moving again, albeit painstakingly slowly because of the incline (all 700+ tonnes of it). Just before the Bbf I passed an LFB sign, and it came back on, and I continued on as normal. There, I also re-set the AFB.

And all seemed normal, until my final approach into Würzburg Hbf: I had already left the LZB area and was slowing down when my electric brakes came on fully without my input and the train was stopped again. And again, I couldn't get it moving without switching off AFB. Afterwards, I crawled into the station to call it a night.

So, is this a potential bug in the implentation of AFB and/or LZB on the BR101, or is this scripted to happen on this run anyway? Or should I count my blessings to have experienced my first non-scripted (signalling) malfunction? :P
