According to this the NJT ALP-46A is capable of doing 125MPH but NJ transit limits them to 100MPH. I wonder why if the route is capable of 150MPH?
Could be due to the passenger coaches, quality of the rail or just to extend its life as well. If you don't go as fast, less wear and tear.
You are correct on that because they are only limited to 100 mph unless they are running with unpowered MLV III that should allow you to go 110 mph 180 km per hour. To run ALP-46A over 160 kmh 100 mph it must be ALP-46A MLV III combination. Same thing for RVL NJCL ALP-45DP MLV III combination on electric mode.
Thank you for that information. not sure if there are any noticeable differences in the cab from the 46 and 46A. Just to see if it would be something that they could or would implement in the future for the NYT route as a add on
Sure thing and for a powered MLV III combined with MLV I-III unpowered sets 100 mph (160 kmh) max speed yet a pure MLV III set 110 mph 180 kmh max speed.
