How do you brake on the NJ Transit Cab car?? The brake lap does not slow down train then I have to use brake service which stops the train abruptly ... and I can't get the trian to keep going right after engaging the brakes. The dynamic braking also does not work on the trian, this is a very frustrating train to operate unless I'm doing something wrong?
I don't think dynamic brake is supposed to work just like real life. Lap isn't braking. It's to hold a certain brake pressure. So you service, lap, service, lap until your desired brake application. You also have to wait for the brakes to fully release obviously to move the train. Trains aren't like cars and don't move immediately
You are doing it wrong. Lapped brakes work in the following way: - put brakes in "service" to increase brake force - then once reached the brake force you are satiafied with, put it in "lap" to hold it - release the brakes by "release" when you are done If you leave it in service, the brake force will keep increasing to maximum. But putting it simply in lap will do nothing by itself. So when you start to begin braking, put it in service, wait a few seconds, then put it in lap. If it's not enough brakes, then put it in service for another second or so, then lap it again.
