I recently bought Hamburg-Lübeck, and I'm struggling to get the headlights to light up on the lovcomotives. Starting any timetable service, I have tried the light switches I can find, but none of them activate the headlights. There's the marker light rotary switch, and those lights give a faint glow as expected. The headlight high/low switch does nothing, as the headlights aren't lit. The train lights switch turn the lights on and off in the passenger cab And the different cab light switches work as expected. The AI trains on the route have working headlights that actually light up the track and other objects as expected, so there's no graphical issue that I can see. I've tried the BR406, headlights work as expected on that, but none of the other trains that come with the map. I'm stumped now, can anyone point out how to get headlights on these trains?
For some strange reason, player trains do not project headlights very well, even though AI does! It is a little better in TSW3 compared to 2 but not by much.
I agree, but this is different. In the other routes and locos there's plenty of light for the reflectors, so you can read signs in the dark, even if they don't really light up the track ahead. I can't drive in the dark as the signs aren't lit up by anything but the marker lights, which makes them unreadable unless you're creeping ahead. And even they you can only read the ones right next to the track. The ICE that comes with the map has working headlights, and it's night and day difference, you can even see it in daylight.
My only other thought is that on some German locos the lighting is a two step process. You have to check the master switch is set to the correct position for headlight or taillight, then there is another switch for the beam type. However I assume you've checked external view that you're not showing red lights on the front?
In this photo I've set the signal lights to white, train lights on, instrument lights on, headlight brightness high. Train has power and is ready to go, but I can't read signposts with only the signal lights illuminating them.
A lot of the older routes suffer from bad lighting, meaning the night is pure black or the headlights are really poor so you can't see anything until it's right in front of you. Or the minor changes they made when the route got ported over to tsw3 messed up the lighting.
Is there a history for these things to get fixed? As it is, even daytime running is a bit of a struggle in shaded areas.
