    Hello peeps
Six weeks in to TSW4 on Steam Pc version.
Reviews I've found on said platform quite often have no useful information about the dlc . Some do which helps steer a purchase, some are just a rant .
I've bought a few on sale and a few at full price. The point is you effectively buy blind because there's no real reviews of each dlc.
Would it be possible to have a dedicated review section on the forum; to give an overview upon release. So we could be better led to dlc that appeals to BR era,Modern era, Freight etc.
An example from personal purchases NTP,I'm playing.NVL is focused on Freight, don't mind a shunt, but not alot.which I play less often despite it being a good route.
MML, London commuter,Blackpool, North east corridor,ECML (bit too stuttery on my recommended set up)And GWE I play often.
I'd recommend all these to anyone for varied reasons.
NYT signal problems, almost bought before looking on forums and bought LIRR V2 instead. Is a good example but spent a long while looking.
It could be just 200 words per review, rant free preferably.
    Thanks for reading.

Currently any addon has at most 5 review sections from different iterations of this game; Search the name of such addon and check each of them.

Thanks to both, I'm aware of individual feedback for some though not all of the routes.
Being long time members you will be aware that you can spend upwards of two hours on ECML feedback, before you find what you may be looking for.Or at times nothing; to say X is broken Y is great.Frame rate at recommended specs is poor.etc.
You can still be none the wiser on some points in spite of thinking there's a resource there already.
I've waited years till train simulator is up to a standard you can play on daily basis.
Sometimes you buy dlc on steam and you can tell within the limit for refunds something not right.
Straight forward to get a refund if the dlc has severe issues.
It's not a deal breaker if rain doesn't appear on 1A18 ECML on the windscreen in timetable mode; that's not a review,it's a bug.
    Thanks again.

    Thanks

Steam is the last place you ever want to look for reviews. Same as IGN, Metacritic, Kotaku ....avoid all of those.

You're better off watching the DTG live streams or some of the Ambassador videos on YouTube, then deciding for yourself.

I highly recommend British Ace and TinTin_57 on YouTube.

    Yes thanks.
It's BA YouTube channel I started watching several months ago .That made me take the plunge into rail simulators again.
British Ace's vids are up to date and very enjoyable.
    Appreciate your post.

I recommend watching YT vids. I also started out with TSW thinking Steam would be good place to understand what DLC is worth purchasing. Found out that highly rated doesn't always mean a good route. Most of the time it's just highly rated because there is a fast train on the cover.

I actually also do what the others wrote in this thread!
At the moment I’m starting to get interested in the US routes and work my way through them. I’ve been playing this game since the original TSW so I have a bunch of routes I have never touched. I usually only play German, Austrian and Swiss routes because they interest me the most, so that’s why I have almost every DLC available out of these three countries.
Now while I’m looking for new (American) ones, I usually do this:
    - I start off by taking a look at which routes are available and what I want to do. Freight? Passengers? Shunting? By deciding on this, you will eliminate a few routes out of the ones that are available.
    - Next up I decide on TOD3 or TOD4. This is one of the most important things for me since in my opinion TOD4 routes look way better! TOD4 had been implemented in TSW3, so every route after the release of TSW3 has this lighting system with volumetric skies, better lighting, etc.. By doing so, about half of the routes available are also eliminated, leaving you with only a bunch of them.
-The last step I do is to watch videos of all of them. By doing so, you get an insight of how everything looks, which trains you get and whether it’s worth the money or not. You also get the chance to see if the services are interesting, A to B runs, have shunting and so on.
    - A small extra thing to do is decide if you can wait a few weeks for a sale or not. Since many routes are quite old you sometimes get up to 80% discount on them, making it a real bargain!
(Actually in two or three weeks there is a Steam sale for transport simulations!)

But in the end it’s up to you what you are doing. The only thing I wouldn’t do is to give too much attention to Steam reviews and in to general “reviews” that are only made of the opinion of someone. Everyone likes different things! Many people for example hate the Hamburg-Lubeck route and I truly think it’s one of the best German routes in Game!
There are also plenty of threads on which routes the community likes most and why, and you could always ask there which route is best for you since most people here are very helpful and nice :)

    Thanks Swisstrains
Bought a few German routes also for future plans. After I learn the safety systems and signals.
Just bought LIRR V2 and North east corridor plus Acela. Both these are a good run for me.
And safety and signals weren't too complicated.
MSTS 2001 had Acela which wasn't my first train simulator, that was Southern Bell on Spectrum 48k 8 bit by Hewson in the early 80's.Did a bit of Rail simulator in 2007 I think for a year.
Never went back till this July after watching British Ace on YouTube.
    Won't ramble on.
Thanks again to everyone for their time.
