Fairly new to the game, so apologies if this has been covered before. Is there a mod or similar which tells you which station you are going through? It would just be nice to know where I am on the route, without looking at the route, if that makes sense. Its not always easy to read the station signs when travelling at speed.
This is where an EBuLa for German trains, and a roster sheet for english trains would be handy, neither of which the game has unfortunately (if only we had an API to access the data to get these and other things working) You could always pause the game as you go past the stations, and there's nothing preventing you from stopping at all stations and getting out just to have a look around. What i'd like to see is a list of stations you'll stop at when selecting a service, i prefer the S-bahn type services with lots of stops, rather than long distances sitting at full throttle doing nothing. But unless you know the service, you don't get to know how many stops there are until you've started the service and look at the timetable.
If you press the esc key, there is a basic route map that shows the station names. Map tab or full map button when you go to the map tab. It's 1 of those
We need the F6 or similar function from TSC, or the equivalent in MSTS, that displays a text line above the location.
We've been asking for an in-game TSC style map with full location and siding names since TSW was launched. After all this time, have to believe it's not coming.
Press the 8 key as you pass the station, this will give you the free camera, and you can then read the signs on the station before pressing 1 to return to your cab. There is no interruption in gameplay doing it this way and it’s fun.
I often try to do this, but, whether it's my tired old eyes or I'm just going too darn fast, I usually fail to register the name of the station. Besides, the TSC map contains much more information than station names, like mileposts, points of interest, sidings and spurs and names of AI trains with departure times etc.
