East of Ferrona Yard in Sharon, there are only two local freights that operate. NS does not run trains east of Mead in Meadville on the WNYP.
There are no motive power restrictions on the line.
11M/12M are not gone, but they no longer operates to Meadville. It terminates and lays over several times a week at Ferrona.
The short stretch of single track between CP Budd and CP Water is considered to be dark territory. Back in the early part of the 1900s, that single track existed as a gantlet track so as to be able to run both main tracks across the Shenango River on a single track bridge and in turn through the crossings by the station in downtown Sharon. When they removed the gantlet in favor of single track, spring switches were installed at either end. This is why when there are no trains present, the signals governing movements out of the single track will display a clear indication.
