The Norilsk-Dudinka railway is located in Russia in the far north. Once the branch line was electrified, but in the 90s the wires were removed. At the same time, passenger traffic between cities using electric trains stopped. At the moment, the railway works for the transportation of crude ore from mines, fuel from the port of Dudinka to the airport and other cargo transportation. The distance between Norilsk and Dudinka is about 90 km, but with all the exits and sorting tracks, the total length of the tracks is more than 330 km. A distinctive feature of this railway is that it is autonomous and not connected to the Russian railway network. It is also one of the few private railways, it belongs to the company Norilsk Nickel. From the moment of opening to this day, the railway has been operating around the clock every day in all weather conditions. Diesel locomotives that operate on this railway: 1)ТЭМ2, ТЭМ2УМ, ТЭМ2МК https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/ТЭМ2 2)ТЭМ7А (Shunting eight - axle diesel locomotive) https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/ТЭМ7 3)ТЭМ18, ТЭМ18Д, ТЭМ18ДМ https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/ТЭМ18 4)2ТЭ116 (The legendary heavy-duty diesel locomotive) https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/2ТЭ116 In the last few years, Norilsk Nickel has started to purchase new modern diesel locomotives. 5)ТЭМ2-УГМК https://shaaz.ru/ru/activity/modernization_of_locomotives/tem2-ugmk/ 6)2ТЭ25КМ (These locomotives began to be delivered this year and should replace other locomotives that have exhausted their resource.) https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/2ТЭ25К
Just beautiful photos More information: https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Норильская_железная_дорога http://my.krskstate.ru/docs/transport/norilskaya-zheleznaya-doroga/ https://taimyr.livejournal.com/21654.html https://radio-rhodesia.livejournal.com/506406.html https://radio-rhodesia.livejournal.com/506762.html
Even if it's a toxic wasteland serving profit interests of a megacorporation, Norilsk has some incredible views. It would be a whole different experience in a train sim.
Does the line use ASLN Klub U Protection systems used by the former USSR? If so then a tutorial must cover on how it's used
As far as I know, over the past few years, the Norilsk Railway has switched to a modern microprocessor-based security system. I can't say which one and how it looks like.
It would be great but sadly I forsee the length and remote location as regards on site research mean we are unlikely to see it adopted for TSW. Best option is to hope someone has a go at building in classic TS.
