Roadmap [Route Add-on] North Downs Line: Reading - Redhill + Gatwick Airport with GWR Class 769 Locos Class 769 Flex (GWR - Passenger) - Originally Class 319 EMUs, these four car units have been fitted with a pair of MAN Diesel engines for bi-mode operation. The North Downs line has DC electrification from Reading to Wokingham and Aldershot South Junction to Shalford Junction while the rest of the line is unnelectrified. Stations Reading, Wokingham, Crowthorne, Sandhurst, Blackwater, Farnborough North, North Camp, Ash, Guildford, Shalford, Chilworth, Gomshall, Dorking Deepdene, Reigate, Redhill, Gatwick Airport Length 38 Miles (61KM) Journey Time (Reading - Redhill) 84 Minutes (Reading - Gatwick Airport) - Semi-Fast Service 92 Minutes (Reading - Redhill) - Stopping Service Year 2021 Future Integration No doubt in the future we will get the Portsmouth Direct Line which would play a big part in making Guildford station come alive.
This is a suggestion I have made before. A superb choice to link GWE to BML. For DLCs we could have throwback units such as... Class 206 Tadpole DEMUs Class 101 and 119 DMUs Class 165/1 and 166 DMUs Plus various other locomotives and stock
Excellent idea and why not do it as North Downs Line Reading to Reigate because Reigate to Gatwick Airport via Redhill exists as Brighton Main Line Reigate Branch. Then you can use Class 769 on BML Reigate to Gatwick Airport via Redhill. Basically making that section of the line busy alternating between Class 166 from GWML London Paddington to reading DLC. In return NDL Class 769 can also do London Paddington to Redding services on GWML
