While the team are looking at making new NPC's can they make them actively look out for their train. None of the current NPC's do that which I think is a bit strange because while not everbody will look to see if their bus/train is coming a fair few people will. We could also do with more trainspotters (kids especially as they're unrepresented in game) on the stations
Could you define looking out for a train? Do you mean that they should be looking for if the train is appearing on the horizon/visible distance or should they actively looking at the PIS boards at the stations? I personally would love the feature that NPCs actually could react to that the train is arriving at a station, either looking in its direction or stand up from their chairs (premise they can sit down), maybe even shouting things like "Here it comes!" or "Finally, it's here!" and all such immersive things. But I of course expect that to be a massive job and plan to do, in a stage where we can be happy that there are not these rigid and monotonous robots anymore with the recently released passenger changes. Trainspotters, yes! But kids, no. There is a reason why kids aren't present in most games. It's for safety reasons, that no sign of child abusal could be depicted/is doable which could get the developers in big big trouble.
Definitely actively reacting to the train arriving, at the moment they act like they're surprised the train is there when they all start moving towards it when the doors open. As far as kids go how would there be any issue with them being present at the ends of platforms with their cameras and notepads. I've played games with kids in them Bioshock, Res 4 to name 2 and as far as TSW goes there's no way that child abuse could even be hinted at
Given the questionable behaviour of the NPCs, I think it's better kids aren't simulated given that NPCs tend to walk in front of moving trains.
Exactly.. but we are the ones playing it and we see it so its definitely not our fault. It's probally some one at dovetail who hasn't coded the NPCs that well.
I'd definitely agree about the trainspotters, especially on the railtour routes. I also think it'd be cool if you get an achievement or action points for giving said trainspotters some tones (or something along those lines) as it can add another fun aspect to the game.
