Quickfire: 33 mile extension, bug fixes, SEPTA, new coaches, freight layers. This is my proposal for a rebuild and extension of the NEC: New York - Trenton route first introduced in Train Sim World 3. Overview The current NEC: New York - Trenton route in Train Sim World provides a detailed recreation of one of the busiest commuter and intercity rail corridors in the United States. However, the route has several notable bugs and issues that impact realism and gameplay. A rebuilt version of the route should focus on fixing these issues while also extending the line further south to Philadelphia 30th Street Station. This expansion would provide a more complete Amtrak and NJ Transit experience, introducing additional services, new rolling stock, and enhancing layering opportunities, significantly improving gameplay and re-playability. The extension from Trenton to Philadelphia (30th Street Station) would make this one of the longest high-speed corridors in Train Sim World, offering a true intercity and commuter rail experience. New Features & Improvements 1. Bug Fixes & Core System Improvements Signaling Overhaul: Correct signal aspects, preventing unnecessary red signals and penalties. ATC/ACSES Fixes: Proper speed limit enforcement and reliable cab signaling behavior. Improved Dispatcher Logic: AI trains should follow realistic scheduling without erratic behavior. Performance Optimization: Reduce stuttering in New York Penn Station, Newark, and Philadelphia. Lighting Adjustments: Proper illumination in New York Penn Station and underground tunnels. 2. Route Extension: Trenton → Philadelphia (30th Street Station) This 33-mile extension would add new stations and services, enhancing realism. Key New Stations: Trenton Transit Center (Existing) → Connection for NJ Transit, Amtrak, and SEPTA. Cornwells Heights → Served by SEPTA, occasional Amtrak Keystone stops. North Philadelphia → Served by Amtrak Keystone/Northeast Regional & SEPTA. Philadelphia 30th Street Station → Major Amtrak hub, with SEPTA, NJ Transit Atlantic City Line, and CSX freight operations. 3. Expanded Service Timetable New Amtrak Services: Northeast Regional (ACS-64, Amfleet I) → Extends to Philadelphia. Keystone Service (ACS-64, Amfleet I Cab Car) → Now operates fully between New York and Philly. Acela Express (If Owned Separately) → High-speed runs to Philadelphia, with express stops. New NJ Transit Services: ALP-46 & Multilevel Coaches → Extends into 30th Street Station on select runs. GP40-2 (layer from SPG) → Runs on NJT’s Atlantic City Line around Philadelphia as AI with NJT branded Comet trailers and cab cars. New SEPTA Services (If Implemented): Silverliner IV EMUs → SEPTA Trenton Line commuter services (between Philadelphia & Trenton). SEPTA Push-Pull Sets (SEPTA branded ACS-64 [reused], SEPTA branded Comet trailers and cab car) → Extra peak-time express trains. New Stock 1. SEPTA Silverliner IV EMU (best released as a loco DLC) Used by SEPTA on the Trenton Line (Commuter rail from Philadelphia to Trenton). Features manual doors and realistic braking systems. Would add a full new playable timetable for SEPTA services. 2. Comet coaches and cab car (NJ transit & SEPTA livery) Similar to MBTA CTC-3 coaches & cab car Best variants would be: Comet I for Septa cab car Comet II for SEPTA & NJT coaches Comet V for NJT coaches & cab car Layers & Freight AI Layers: Amtrak Long-Distance Trains (AI at Philadelphia & Trenton) SEPTA Warminster & West Trenton Lines (AI near 30th Street) NJ Transit Atlantic City Line (AI at 30th Street Station) Freight Layers: Freight services would expand operations near Philadelphia: CSX Intermodal & Manifest Freight (From Sand Patch Grade) → Philadelphia yards. Norfolk Southern (NS) Freight Runs (From Horseshoe Curve) → AI freight movements. Conclusion: Why this rebuild is necessary. ✔ A longer, more complete Northeast Corridor experience (NYC to Philly). ✔ A diverse, realistic timetable with Amtrak, NJT, and SEPTA operations. ✔ Fixes long-standing bugs in signals, dispatcher logic, and AI behavior. ✔ Adds freight operations creating a more dynamic environment. ✔ Expands player choice with new rolling stock and services. This rebuild would make NEC one of the most complete and engaging routes in Train Sim World. Let me know your thoughts.
that one looks kinda like those tin cans that run (or used to run like at least 10 yrs ago) on the South Shore Line to Chicago anyway, would love that, if only for Acela to have more runtime
That would be a great idea to introduce SEPTA into a Train Simulator. Hope they can get the License from SEPTA to have their trains appear in the game.
I have to admit I’m not all too familiar with American content, however I did purchase the New York - Trenton addon recently and though not without its issues - I have to say it is up there as one of my top favourite add ons for Train Sim World. With the variety of services and traffic, I definitely would love to see the route upgraded and even extended, with the addition of new stock / services
Yeah the original route from tsc went all the way to Philly with the EMD-ASEA. When it came to tsw it went only to Trenton.
