For northbound Amtrak services stopping at Metropark, why does ATC enforce the approach limited 7 miles south of Metropark station. All signals for the next 4 miles show clear, and the actual approach limited isn't until about 3 miles south of the station. cActUsjUiCe Is this correct? My gut tells me it's not.
When i play new york to trenton alot I never use atc and acses it just seem they slow right down for no reason I only use the alerter if you use the safety system you always run so late I think they redoing
It is because the cab signals are broken. Essentially, they "look too far ahead" and slow you down much sooner than necessary. This has been known since shortly after launch but not fixed. The Metropark approach is just one example. If you don't want to crawl along, you will have to turn ATC off.
That's sad. Thinking sbout getting the route, since it's cheap now. But the buggy ATC is really off putting.
DTG seemed to really figure out ATC and ACSES with the new MBTA and Long Island. Brandon, many thanks to you for your role in that. Maybe they can fix NY-Trenton next…
yea the cab signaling is an issue with ATC on. I personally drive with just the aleter and acses on. I know is not ideal but the timetable is the biggest out of any Us route we got when you add all the AI (1900). Joe did an amazing job with the timetable which brings this route to life. Personally even with the issues I still enjoy the route and is one of my favorites. It's my home route after all.
Good to know, I’ll try this route with ACSES + alerter. Being from NJ, ALP-46 is one of my favorite locomotives to drive so it’ll be good to get rolling in it again.
Gave in and bought the route on sale. I was put off reading the forum posts for five months, honestly it's decent. Watched the British Ace,has a very active timetable. I noted what Max1319 mentioned, which was helpful. So far I'm enjoying the route, varied scenery, choice of three locomotive's.(Already own Acela)
Yes it’s pretty decent now if you turn off ATC it and can get past the wonky signaling and the dated scenery. Timetable is outstanding now. ALP-46 is well done. Good route to run all that Amtrak stock on as well. Tbh both Boston routes and LIRR 2 outshine it but it’s probably in the top 5 for US passenger routes.
I like the route, the timetable, and all the trains that run on it. It's a shame that the signaling doesn't work.. and that Penn Station constantly gridlocks. I hope they can apply their new ATC/ACSES system to this route
