I’ve only just got the game going, and taking a quick look around the routes before trying out a service from Bludenz on Vorarlberg. You know what, this game looks pretty damn good. Specifically these mountains. I knew they were hyping up distant scenery but this is better than expected. I love this route so far. I’ve barely touched the other two. I’m now very optimistic that TSW could have a mountain route like the Canadian Rockies and do it justice. And (knock on wood) this game actually seems to perform better than TSW3 on my PS5. Granted I don’t yet have access to all my old DLC/layers so that may change when the game is bloated up but so far so good.
A quick run on AVL it certainly seemed smoother to me and despite concerns over TOD4 the lighting didn’t seem quite so bleached out. The key to performance will be getting the known stutter routes like BML in there and giving them a run.
Those screenshots above look stunning. The mountains especially look great. Kudos where its due! IF there's any intention to do something about the dreadful TAA flickering, especially when stationary, that would be awesome to hear about. Otherwise looks like a pretty solid job going by the feedback thus far!
Dovetail have knocked this out the park in my opinion. A friend of mine is as an Azuma driver and I showed him the route last night. He was really impressed with the level of the detail on the route and said it showed they'd clearly spent a lot of time on the research. I've criticised, fairly, in the past, but there is nothing in TSW4 that I'm finding immersion breaking so far! Well done Team DTG.
