I really like the new Fast Travel feature as it makes the on foot experience a lot less tedious. However, when I am on foot I also like to look around say a large station or perhaps a nearby yard. As there is no free camera on foot I have to use the Free Roam feature to find a siding somewhere (hopefully not too far from where I actually want to look around), create a train, get into the train and sit down, and then I can finally use the free roam camera (8 on a keyboard) to do a bit of flying around and really get an appreciation of how complex some of the TSW route layouts are. Once I have finished looking round an area I then get out of the train and delete it and then use Fast Travel to take me back to where I actually want to be (I am only in the siding because I had to spawn a train). All this could be avoided if the free camera functionality was available on foot. In this case you could use the camera to fly away from where you are standing (say on a station platform), allow you to look around and then pressing 1 on the keyboard would return you back to where you were standing. You could then use Fast Travel to go to another location and using the free camera look around again rather than have to go through the tedious process of having to find a siding and spawn another train each time. I know some might say this in unrealistic but then again having a free camera when you are a passenger or driver is totally unrealistic too (but great fun) and as always you only have to use a feature if you want to. Tied in with this is improving the number of places you can Fast Travel to (see another of my suggestions for details).
I’ve suggested this in the past as it would be an easy feature to add and a useful one for those of us who just like to take up a nice position and watch the trains come and go. I quite often find or spawn a train in a siding so that I can sit in it and then use the free cam to find a high vantage point to watch the trains from but it would be so much handier to just have the free cam available on foot. I don’t know why it isn’t in the game already as it seems obvious to me that it would be a good feature. If a player can fly a drone when driving then why can’t a player fly a drone when on foot?
I bet it'll make its return in TSW6. They announced suspension physics when they announced TSW4 and here we are 1 month into TSW5 and still not every loco, rolling stock & MU have that feature.. I swear they announced Multiplayer when they announced TSW2
