Good afternoon fellow train drivers, I hope everyone that can has had a chance to enjoy the new Munich route that released today. I have had the chance to complete the initial introduction and driving out of Munich I must say I was very impressed with the amount of big unique buildings, unique stations, the great looking bridges you drive under and the amount of track, not even including the train wash which puts all others to shame. The frame rate does take a hit from this but this is by far the most I’ve felt like I was in an actual transportation hud for a major city. The amount of sheer objects and detail in the unique buildings and the amount of track make this the best environment I have been in driving in TSW2 not to mention I have never seen so many AI trains whether it’s just how often I see them or seeing more at one time then I have ever seen in TSW. I passed 3 moving AI trains which was a very cool moment. Even with the frame drops I experienced while moving through this area, it is definitely a big highlight of my TSW experience to date. What I really wanted to touch on in this thread is something I noticed when starting the BR423 introduction. Having completed many of these something really stuck out to me. When you load in on the platform and the introduction starts you are greeted with a woman’s voice that says “Welcome to driver training here at Munchen-Pasing. Today you will be learning to drive this BR423 Electric Multiple Unit in DB Traffic Red livery.”. As you may have noticed she did not say she was walking us through a tutorial, or just teaching us how to drive it. She actually said “Welcome to driver training”, it’s such a simple sentence but what makes that special is it makes us feel like we are well..there for driver training, like we just got hired to drive this route and we are being brought through training. This moment, as well as how radio chatter on Sandpatch made me feel is such a huge step in the right direction with how to make more of an immersive experience and even just a simple sentence can make a big difference.
I also want to add that the scenarios seem to be a lot more interesting as well. Realizing that this is the first DTG add on for TSW2 it has me excited for what they have in store.
