Today the release of my freeware route of the Dresden Park Railway is 1 month ago. And I want to say thank you for the 840 downloads in the last 4 weeks so far! Test Ramps needed 8 months to achieve the same. I hope you could enjoy the route a bit at least even though it's a rather fictional and untypical type of route in the portfolio of Train Sim World. At the same time, I noticed that a lot of people being on PC aren't actively using any mods or content hosted on the Train Sim Community website, and aren't looking out for the great content on there from us modders (this should completely deserve its own thread), but I want to start the initiative for one of creations now here. For the people who didn't encounter it yet, a short recap: Yes, freeware routes for Train Sim World are possible. There are no technical limitations creating a route and get it to work inside the game with the Public Editor. I actually proved that back in on 30th of December 2024, with my Test Ramps route which is also available on TSC. However, there might be bugs and technical limitations for additional gameplay elements. In the mean time, there have been released 4 freeware routes as far as I know, 1. Test Ramps by me , 2. TLS's Test Track by Train Launch System, 3. Projekt Kleinstadt by Thomas Game France and 4. Dresden Park Railway by me. The latter one, I would like to introduce another time for those who didn't know. So let's get started. Dresden Park Railway I built a fictional replication of the Dresden Park Railway, a miniature railway in Dresden's park "Großer Garten" back in May 2024 for testing out whether creating a route and get it to work in-game is possible with the Public Editor. And I got the proof that it does back then. However because of some reasons I couldn't release the route back then. One of these reasons was that I didn't figured out how to spawn correctly on the map - which is pretty vital as you can imagine. This is something I learnt with Test Ramps. Due to some events in September and works until then, I wasn't able to finish the Dresden Park Railway until then. But before letting it waste on my hard drive, I decided to finally finish and release it in the best state I can provide for now. To meet expactations, I don't plan to invest more time into changing the or adding things to the map. There are variety of reasons why I won't and can't do this unfortunately. I apologize for that. What you get is 5.6 km-ish railway with 5 stations and lots of funny things and sites to explore (there are no limits - you even can explore the park on foot and have chill time there and especially when hanging aroudn the Carolasee). There are also a lot of collectibles to find. 24 garden gnomes, 9 first aid kits and 12 pink cat-ear headphones Matt lost in the park, while being to excited for the upcoming Dresden-Leipzig route coming with Train Sim World 6. Important: You need have DRA installed to have the collectibles. There is no timetable provided. Only a very basic timetable with Stanier 8Fs to get you spawned on the route. Doing a timetable would be too complicated for the purpose the route had for me. If someone is interested in doing one, you can contact me on the TSC Discord Server as RobertS. Features: Discover the around 6 kilometer of tracks and 5 stations of my fictional version of the Dresden Park Railway with your owned locos and rolling stock. Be careful to keep below 20 kph in the curves as otherwise there is a high probability of derailing. Discover the whole park on foot and enjoy a chilltime at the Carolasee or the park sides. There are no boundaries/limits which keep you off the world like in the official routes. You can run the tracks with Diesel, Steam but also german Electric Locos (as shown in the video). Also third rail electrification for UK locos is provided. Find all collectibles which I placed throughout the park! 24 garden gnomes and 9 first aid kits wait to be found! Oh, and Matt was so excited about Dresden Leipzig that he lost a pack of 12 of his pink cat-ear headphones in the park. Can you find them all for him? You can route hop to Dresden-Riesa (Nahverkehr Dresden), Dresden-Chemnitz (Tharandter Rampe) and the new Dresden-Leipzig route (at least I hope it will work if DTG didn't change the logic of the spawning points for DLG - couldn't test it yet obviously). There is a route hop marker placed at the Bahnhof Zoo station. I'm currently thinking about a way to do a mod to route hop from DRA, DCZ or DLG to the Dresden Park Railway. Download: You can download the route FREE OF CHARGE on TrainSimCommunity.com here: https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...-park-railway-freeware-route#item-description If you enjoy the route feel free to give buy me coffee. Link provided on TSC. Thank you very much for your support. Requirements: The basic scenery elements are from the Training Centre, which every player will own as it comes with Train Sim World. So in theory, you need no DLC at all to use the route as it is. However, I used some additional scenery elements like level crossings, station/building assets and collectibles from the Nahverkehr Dresden-Riesa (DRA) add-on, so you will need to have DRA installed in order that these spawn on the map. Owners of Train Sim World 6 Standard, Deluxe and Special Edition automatically get a copy of Nahverkehr Dresden-Riesa (DRA) assigned to their account for free, which you also will need for the DB BR 143 layer to Dresden-Leipzig and additional layers to other routes of the TSW franchise. You just have to install it alongside Dresden-Leipzig. Only works with Train Sim World 5, Train Sim World 6 and above. Disclaimer: This is a PC Mod and unfortunately not available for consoles. The reason why is and was never in my responsibility. Only official content can be released on consoles. I apologize for the frustration. Pictures: Video showcase: English video by TrainSimulatorDriver: German video by TrainSimPlay: German video by Kiru's Train World: German video by Der Denni Spielt Das: My video in english where I explain some things (sorry for the parts where I'm too silent): Last words: I wish everyone who are interested in the route, a lot of fun with this. For the ones that have no interest or want to share hate on a fictional route like that, please stay away and don't take away the fun of others with it. In the end, it's free. Noone needs to take it. Have Fun, Robert! https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...ons/i6877-dresden-park-railway-freeware-route
Nice to see a finished route emerge from the (to me) far too complex route editor. Kudos for pushing the project through to conclusion.
All 3 runs will immediately complete as soon as you open them. You can run the train in free roam, though I do not know much about running steam locos so could not do much. Route itself is very nice.
Well done, nice to see some freeware stuff coming through, a sight we used to see so much in the heydays of TSC.
