I think the London Underground have some battery-powered locomotives that are used for maintenance and similar operations. The idea was that you did not want diesel fumes inside the enclosed tunnels. It didn't, however, need a trailer to carry its batteries (but doesn't need to go that far anyway). Do you happen to know what the intended purpose of your battery-electric train is?
