I realize the full route would be impossible, far too large. But how about a portion of the famed Orient Express, either out of Paris (I know there is already a French route, don't know if it's out of Paris or not) or Istanbul. Could be a cool steam locomotive.

The other one I was thinking about would be a portion of the Trans Siberian Railroad. Politically speaking though, this might be a non-starter, given the Russians and their current shenanigans.

Only French route is the Mediterranean LGV one, nowhere near where the Orient Express would have run.

Current political considerations mean any chance of a Russian route is remote to none existent.

Even if the situation were different, the result would not have changed. Russian Railways is too bureaucratic.

Making a route for the Orient Express would be pretty hard. As you'd probably want a historic route for the steam trains you'd have to do a lot of research. I myself have a lot of material about the railways in my local area for the 1910-1930s, and the Orient Express did even use some lines here, but it wouldn't nearly enough to make a route in TSW out of it. Entire stations have been reconstructed, the cities changes massivly and plans for the rail infrastructure are rare or hard to find.

Probably the best route would be the Arlberg Pass as done by Kuju for the original MSTS but the problem is DTG unlikely to make it as a steam era or even vintage electric, set when the train still ran. In addition to the OE consist it would need several other locos and items of stock to fill out the route. I mean, as being discussed in another thread DTG seem reluctant to make Amtrak long distance equipment needed on several of the US routes so the OE even less of a chance.
