Since this forum seems to have become a burning car crash, I thought it would be nice to suggest some other things for people to try instead of contacting the BBC, suing DTG (may God help this forum), or smashing their game discs.

First of all, music. I find music to be a great way to calm down and concentrate. My Spotify playlist of all of my favourite songs is over 1100 songs long, lasting 91 hours. One song I particularly like is Ceremony by New Order, and it's interesting to see how many covers there are of the song. There's an entire album made of covers of that one song, but the cover that is my favourite overall is the one by Pascal Babare. It feels more heartfelt and intimate than the original, and I think I like at as much as the original. But it's not just Ceremony I like. I also quite like electronic music, and more recently Never Come Back by Caribou and Luminous Spaces by Jon Hopkins and Kelly Lee Owens have tickled my fancy.

I play TSW on my PS4, but luckily there are at least twelve other games available on the platform. A few days ago I finally got the Elite licence in Burnout Paradise Remastered, an adequate remaster of the original, one of my favourite games of all time. Little has changed with the graphics, but since the original was beautiful anyway I don't really mind. I do wish that they'd put in as much effort into Burnout Paradise Remastered as they put into Need For Speed Hot Pursuit.

On television recently is the new series of Ghosts, a comedy about a woman who can see and interact with a cast of ghosts (hence the name). I was quite enthusiastic with the show in the first series, but this series I've lost interest considerably. They really need to do something interesting with the show, because it's barely changed from series one. The lesbian wedding in series two really wasn't a large enough shark for Ghosts to jump.

Hopefully everybody will calm down, because at the moment it reminds me a lot of a temper tantrum in a nursery. Perhaps people could talk about things in this thread which don't relate in any way to what's happening on PS4. Remember, there are other things to do in life which are as important or more than Train Sim World 2. Go to a club. Meet someone new. Decorate your house. Get married. Do whatever you want, just remember that this situation really isn't the end of the world. Without wanting to get political, there are much, much larger issues in the world right now that your anger is better directed at.

I went out on my bike today. I rode about 80 miles in 30 degree sunshine. I‘m too tired to eat let alone play TSW

Where is this? I can barely walk in 30 degree heat, let alone cycle that distance. I have an allotment near my house which I work on when I'm free, and it is a good distractor - I would have loved it when the pandemic was at its height. That said, the weather where I live in England (a bit of a microclimate that doesn't follow the trends of the rest of the country) is too humid to be a pleasant working environment.

Talking about the allotment has just reminded my that my pumpkin plant has grown too far, and I need to cut it down a little. I hate doing it, but otherwise it'll die from being unable to support itself.
This sums it all up for me. I am disappointed, but I'm not angry (yet). There are some people that are taking this a bit too seriously in my opinion. I'm glad to see Mr Fisher is roughly on the same page as me.

I’d like to talk about other things I admit… however I work hard for my money and I’ve spent a fair bit on this game therefore… it’s true I’m more than a little miffed that this big update that I was looking forward to and was intending purchasing… that has been plastered alllll over my game screen for months alll over Instagram for months and Facebook for months has done nothing but broken the game…. There’s been nothing but mis information about uninstalling and reinstalling to fix it, so forgive me for being a little upset that all that money, that they have taken from us basically accounts for nothing atm!!! The ticket I sent in their chap told me to turn the PS4 off and then back on again… so currently I feel I have the right to throw my toys out of the pram in this “nursery”

What do you ride? And more importantly: how many bikes have you got and what's next?!

Zürich, Switzerland. We've hardly had any decent weather this summer, so I'm making the most of it. Cycling is a bit of an obsession for me,

My other obsession despite being well past the recommended age range is building Lego. It's going to rain tomorrow so I guess I might get some the to do that.

I haven't even tried the update on my Playstation 4 yet. I'm lucky enough to have it on other platforms as well.

A Trek Madone with Dura Ace DI2. I have a 'few' others. The Madone is 4 years old now so still on Rim Breaks. When I get my next bike it'll probably be something light and aero with disc brakes.

Ah, music, games, and videos. What more do you need? Well, I suppose love is nice too, but in the meantime...

Funny you should mention electronic music. My big listen right now is a chronological run-through of Tangerine Dream from when they discovered sequencers in 1974 to when Chris Franke left in 1987--albums, concert bootlegs, some movie soundtracks. Fascinating hearing their music develop both as the players did with experience and as the equipment got more advanced.

Burnout Paradise is great fun as a time-killer. I'll also recommend Wreckfest. Never was able to get into the Need for Speed games, though; something about the gameplay never felt right to me. For just relaxing, Flower is a personal favorite. Abzu was nice, too.

On video, I've recently finished Russian Doll and started the French series Les Revenants.

Liked your "get married" suggestion very much. I got a laugh picturing someone who had been putting that off due to TSW immersion suddenly finding he had time and rushing to the nearest chapel/courthouse to get it over with.

We all get wound up by the by the most insignificant silly things, however trivial they may seem and often it manifests itself in the most stupid of ways. Angryness and being offended are the new norm in today's world.

I, personally, gave up at midnight GMT after a whole day off work which mainly consisted of un-install and install, rise and repeat. I woke at 4am to the rain bouncing down and thought screw it I'm going fishing to my favourite spot on loweswater. Spent the morning there which put a whole new perspective on life, save for getting peeved at the tourists for leaving gates open!
Soaked wet through and ultimately happy.

I'm with you on Ghosts, season 3 as 2 was nothing groundbreaking but enjoyable nonetheless. I looking forward to Tuesday and the return of Britannia III and October when Brassic returns.

As a departing thought, this time last year I was seriously ill in hospital not with but, they suspect as a result of covid. It's surprising what a day, a week, a year can do to change your outlook on things.

As for the marriage thing, I've did that when it was out for the PS1, no thanks. Not even better performance and graphics could fix that one..

Has anyone listened to the latest Coldplay single? I quite like it (put your pitchforks away). It seems a lot more ambitious than their past songs.
I've always wanted to make a massive Lego train set, but I've never had the time or money for it. Maybe in the future.
Sometimes I wish it was that simple. :D
I assume this is the same Tangerine Dream that worked on the soundtrack for GTA5? Perhaps I should check them out more than I have already.
My favourites were the Criterion-era ones, particularly Hot Pursuit 2010. Most Wanted 2012 was quite like Burnout Paradise, but like you it never felt right for me. An honourable mention goes to The Run, which while not liked by many, I had a great time with it, largely because of its awesome soundtrack.
Personally I think that Ghosts won't last very long; maybe one more series and that'll be it. It might have a higher production value than Not Going Out, but NGO changed a lot over the years and had a hiatus a few years ago for the writers' imagination tanks to refill - if Ghosts is to survive as long as Not Going Out or Friday Night Dinner, two shows that remained good throughout their runs, they need to do something new. New ghosts is probably the easiest way of doing this, but I'd rather they bring the show to a natural end instead of trying to flog a dying horse. I did like the camping episode, though.
That must have been a horrible experience. My cousin has it at the moment, and we are worrying about him every day. Are you better now?

I understand the confusion around everyone and the frustration of everyone on Playstation.
As far as I know PC and the Xbox versions are working fine now. It's just Playstation having issues right now I think.
Even if I have access to everything, I still find nice ways to pass my time. I agree as well, I think some people are taking this a little too serious.
People have to understand when something new comes out bugs, issues and errors are bound to happen. But it's not something to rage over or try to find a way to sue (haha).

Simply wait, have patience. Try something you like to do. Ever since I was young I always loved basketball, so I play that in my free time and play Xbox/PC when I feel like to. I also have a HO scale model NYC Subway system with many trains New Yorkers might know, including the famous Redbirds. I bought these from MTH and Lionel model trains. Recently I was fixing a section of track which was NOT receiving power from the middle power rail. Model RO scale or HO scale trains are really fun, it just highlights why I love trains.

My theme: Relax, this issue will pass. Find something better to do than to argue are get excessively angry. Their are many things to do.

I haven't really played TSW2 except for a few mins on PS5 to see how it looked and ran.
I wanted to continue playing the PS4 version to get the trophies done so instead of playing, I went back to other hobbies that I'd put aside for a while and worked on a couple of plastic model kits (Airfix, Revell etc).

Also, Tangerine Dream is indeed the same. They were involved in a lot of the OST work for GTA V including my favourite No Happy Endings.

Would you mind posting some photos of this? I'm interested. I've never seen someone attempt the NY subway system before, but I guess I'm out of the loop with model railways. I do remember watching a video of a 30s-style London Underground layout which I thought was ultra-cool.
    Good advice I say!

I‘m totally relaxed. Wonder about myself. A bit disappointed, but hey, I‘m off for work, and when I find time to play, I try do get some progress in AC Valhalla. Try one or two times a day if TSW works, but due to weekend I don‘t expect anything.

Nice. My road bike is a De Rosa of 2015 vintage so also on rim brakes. I'd definitely always go disc now - recently bought a Giant Revolt Advanced gravel bike and it's a thing of wonder! Barely used my mountain bike since I got that.

I fixed my washing machine. Developed a leak yesterday, fixed in 3 hours with some plumbing. (Must resist temptation to mention other things that are not fixed yet...)

The covid element was pretty fine, I had it early Jan/feb. Didn't actually know I had had it until I was subsequently tested in hospital and they confirmed.
Apparently as a result of said covid my blood had thickened enough to result in a clot which ultimately led to a stroke.
Still no sense of smell or taste. Everything tastes of cardboard, just differing textures of card.
Loud noises, alarms, shouting etc I still struggle with.
Being interrupted or asked to repeat myself when conversing causes me problems where I struggle to restart or repeat something. This is something I do have some control over as it's way better than it originally was.
99% motor skills and micro motor skills. Thanks in no small part to TSW, frustrated me hugely in the first few weeks but I was determined it wasn't going to beat me to where I can now do individual track links on model tanks and tie fishing knots. Not bad for barely being able to clap my hands 12 months ago.

I was ultimately lucky, a far to many haven't been sadly.

I must say that this is an outrageous situation to find yourself in, and over a weekend as well.

Perhaps I may be so bold as to suggest bringing litigation against your washing machine manufacturer, perhaps demand free boxes of Persil as a good will gesture. Has the company offered an apology to you directly for this malfunction, maybe via a live You Tube stream? Do these vendors not test their washing machines prior to pocketing your hard earned cash?

I’m sure the crushing disappointment at not being able to rinse through your smalls this weekend is nothing short of a full scale tragedy, I mean those underpants have been bought and paid for, yet their utility has been stolen from you by unscrupulous and incompetent white goods providers.

I wish you all the best during this completely unacceptable period of laundry-based downtime.

Many thanks to you and the OP, along with some of the other contributors to this thread, for providing some much needed perspective.

I work in Altstetten in Zurich and it was sweltering for the past couple of months, even all the storms didn't break the humidity!

It also means I now own 2 PS5's, one in Zurich and one in the UK. Hoping my one in Zurich picks up the upgrade as well as my UK one has, I'll find out tomorrow when I fly back.

I’ve spent a lot of time on here looking at what’s going on . A lot more time than usual . Not because I’m obsessed or desperate to get back on TSW but because I’m just intrigued as to how it will end and it’s better than watching some stupid soap ! I’ve also been sharing my latest article on male breast cancer on social media in my continuing quest to let men know that they can get breast cancer too . Feel free to share it yourself https://www.breastcanceruk.org.uk/news/guys-tend-to-ignore-these-things/

Of course the repair guy will be subcontracted and nothing to do with Hoover, and just some bloke who gets the odd phone call to a job local to him.
I admire the ballsy move by the consumer though, but ultimately wonder if he’s only gone and impacted some poor working stooge when all is said and done.
Hope you are on the mend now, mate. All the best.

Here's a little more on the whole story

As for the repair guy, he's more than likely related to the customer! Strange family coincidences seem to happen round here...
