Hi all, My game crashed today whilst building a scenario on the Portsmouth Direct Line London Waterloo - Portsmouth route (0xc0000005 OUT OF MEMORY). I've tried loading other routes and it works perfectly fine. This does not just happen when I try and load the scenario to edit it, it also happens when I try to load a quick drive or a different scenario. Some of the things I have tried are: - Uninstalling and Reinstalling the DLC - Verifying the game files - Lowering the graphics settings Any help would be much appreciated.
This is one's tricky, it's very badly optimised. One of the worst performing TS routes, mainly due to the polygon heavy rolling stock which does not feature low poly AI stock. I've purchased this route years ago and only touched it for a few minutes. A workaround is to lower your settings for editing purposes (scenery density, quality, view distance and shadows slider to the left). Disable SSAO. There's really not much more you can do. Last thing would be to disable Dynamic lighting, which will switch to the old RailSimulator/RailWorks1/2 rendering engine. Good luck!
Yea, i've tried lowering the settings, I don't think it is to do with the AI either as it happens when I create a new scenario with no AI on it whatsoever. I think its something to do with the route itself as its when I try and load the route at all.
Hmm, too bad. Have you tried running the 32-bit version? This -sometimes- works. I think VNHRR stated in the Springfield manuals that they recommend using 32-bit for editing purposes. Maybe this could help here too. I'll give it a go on my system later and see if flying around the map triggers a crash.
Try this... https://alanthomsonsim.com/downloads/pdl-portsmouth-direct-line-waterloo-portsm-optimization-patch/
Thanks Reef! Wasn't aware of this! The abundance of those 3D trees is really annoying. Just installing the patch...
Still having the problem after the optimization patch being installed. Would uninstalling and reinstalling the game be something I should try or not?
No, that won't change anything. If you've verified your files that's enough. The route is self-dependant, only using its supplied assets. At which location does your scenario start? Trying to recreate what you're doing.
Woking. It isn't just that specific scenario I have the problem with it is any time I try and load the route whatsoever. Free roam, Quick Drive, a different scenario, editing a scenario etc. Also happens no matter what station I try and start at.
Just opened scenario 06. 2F88 on the optimized route. DynamicClouds off. Flying around a bit, no trouble on my end yet. Placing a free roam marker, creating a new scenario - no troubles here. Placing a 5-car consist, again, everything's fine.. My settings: TS 64-bit, Borderless Window, FPS capped at 60 (launch parameter "-FPSLimit=60"). Full scenery density and quality, no SSAO System: Old but gold 1st-gen Lynnfield i7-870@2.93GHz, NVidia GTX1050Ti 4GB, 16GB RAM, Windows 7 64(yes :P it does its job well)
My settings are the same apart from I have fps capped at 144fps, my computer specs are - Intel Core i3-10100 @ 3.60hz, 16GB ram, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER, Windows 11 Is there a chance something I did to the route whilst making the scenario would have made it unplayable?
Your system looks good. To verify there's no accidental changes to the route, make sure the route's folder only contains the file "MainContent.ap" (329.927.601 Bytes), eventually scenario pack .ap's and a "Scenarios" folder. Delete all other folders in there (except for .ap files!!!), then reapply the patch. So if there's a "Networks" folder this is an indicator of changes made to the route. Delete it. folder: <Steam path>\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Content\Routes\00000084-0000-0000-0000-000000002018\
