This is becoming a nightmare that I am at the point of giving up. So many suggestions and questions on this on the Net. Out of memory pops up and locks the PC up completely, no mouse or keyboard control so cannot even stop task. Have to use the reset button and reboot. The other issue when the Sim is running, the Sim drops down to the task bar randomly and I have to press button B to bring it back up. Meanwhile the train has now pass Red or missed a station. This is the only Sim or Game that causes me problems. You need to give a bit more detail and structure it for clarity. When does it OOM? It is obviously not every time since you can get the sim running - so under what circumstances does it occur? Is it on specific routes or scenarios? Is it in QD or standard scenarios?
Train Simulator works well with 16GB RAM - it's RAM consumption is actually much less. If you read through some threads, you will find that these errors are mostly related to corrupt assets. I see that you're new and like to help - but for that you need a bit more knowledge. Generic "update drivers" tips are not solving these issues. (I generally advise to keep to the GFX drivers if they are working and not update them just to find you need to roll them back again.)
If a scenario brings your game down with an OutOfMemory error, start LogMate.exe in the Railworks folder before starting the game the second time. Wait for the game to load, then press Flush and Open File in the LogMate window and look at the log displayed -before- you start your scenario. There should already be quite some messages, possibly errors already. Then start your scenario, after a while you should hear a soft 'plop' kind of sound which I think indicates the phase the rolling stock is put in its starting positions. When the game crashes, do not close it right away, but press the Flush, Open File buttons again and take a good look at the log file where there could be error messages at or near the bottom. Culprits are usually enhancement packs/mods not properly installed, conjugated scripts files not loading properly etc, not necessarily your player train, but any of the AI services the scenario calls.
Thanks Guys for your input. I will go through the motions suggested. As previously mentioned I can cover quite a distance then out of the blue the error message, background sound still running, warnings, etc. Does nothing for my Career! What is even more annoying you cannot close the error message and also no access to PC admin, ie; task. None of my other Sims and games lock me out completely
I went through similar issues with my installation. Whilst every setup may be completely different there are many things which could be going wrong. What is interesting is that you state your whole pc locks up. With a normal TSC you get an OOM message and it just dumps you out of TSC however your pc still responds correctly. One thing to make sure is that you are not running in full windows mode. This appears to be a default and I discovered things were much more stable in the windows mode especially if you are multitasking. Also for me I was getting blue screens rather than pc freeze. My root cause was that my pc BIOS as sold to me was an older version and did not communicate well with my NVIDIA drivers. I had no idea until my brother (who works for a living setting up computer systems and databases) helped my update my bios. Since then my pc works very well. Good luck
