Since the update I have been getting out of video memory errors a lot more frequently. Plus the washed out textures are still a problem as the texture go from good quality to blurry then back to good and so on.
I've had several crashes on WCML OS after this update. Didn't suffer any crashes on this route prior to update. Haven't tested WCML south yet but pre update it was a nightmare. I'm on a Series S.
Have had several crashes, usually a mile out coming into Euston, just before the tunnel. That's just a dump back to the X Box screen. First time today I've had the video memory one. Also X Box Series S
10GB GDDR6, shared pool (CPU and GPU are combined), 8GB is high bandwidth, 2GB is low, likely reserved for operating system - Sony did something similar with the PS5 Pro, which now has 2GB of DDR5 in addition to the 16GB of GDDR6 in the base model, the 2GB is only used by the operating system.
Then OOM errors would be inevitable for the " S " for recent routes, I would imagine. You really need 16GB dedicated to video. DTG does kinda say that.
Time for DTG to define if the Series S is a Gen 9 or Gen 8 console performance wise. To me it's not and I own a Series S X and PS5 and play TSW5 across all consoles. Series S is Gen 9 Light.
I tried out the Xbox one free training center version for train sim 5 and on one of the missions I looked at the gravel and it looks like something out of a mobile train sim.
I find that sometimes the S can run routes silky smooth, just as well as the PC and I love playing on it when its like that. However, sometimes, especially since TSW5, all routes (even older ones) seem to start giving it grief and lead to these out of memory things. WCCL is the one outlier which has failed every time I have tried to give it a chance, though luckily I'm not missing out on much there.
If DTG wants this game to remain tenable they NEED to address these Ram issues. It started getting bad toward the end of the TSW4 cycle... they had fixed it somewhat, but its back with a vengeance in TSW5. I am mainly playing on PS5 and PS5 Pro, crashes and errors aren't that prevalent but the blurred texturing is a mess across many routes. I don't even play Frankfurt or WCMLS due to issues, San Bernardino is the only TSW5 launch route that actually somewhat works.
Morning folks - thank you for the thread, we've got a follow-up patch for WCML that should hopefully improve the performance to help reduce crashes and OOM issues. It's certainly not the full picture yet, we're consistently working to try and improve areas which are taking up too much memory, but we hope this helps you enjoy the route over the holiday break. This patch should (fingers crossed) be coming to you today, or likely tomorrow otherwise. I greatly appreciate your patience, thank you!
Cheers Alex mate, would I also be right when I say that wider TSW5 performance is being worked on too, because, as I say, routes which run smooth as silk on TSW4 are significantly more choppy/leading to crashes in TSW5. I am noticing this on both the S series and PC.
Week ago it was smooth 60fps in tsw5 on xbox series x , now ctd, crackling sound, freezes and slideshow all over the routes... Think DTG what did you mess with in the 10th dec patch
Since yesterday update I have had run from Milton Keynes to Euston fast with the class 350 this was one I know crashed upon arrival at Euston from the one run I had time to have go it was smooth still got some blurry textures when I got to Wembley and on to Euston but got no out of video memory errors. On Xbox series x
