For fear of sounding like a broken record, I find the outside cameras in TSW1 and 2 so frustrating. I very rarely drive from the cab. in TS2021 I love camera 2, I set above and to the left or right of the loco and enjoy the scenery whilst driving the train, it stays put. You cannot do that in TSW1 and 2 Camera 2 is all over the place (See video) camera 3 is better but a pain to position, I did a run from Manchester to Leeds and camera 3 kept reverting to camera 2 every couple of minutes. this is so frustrating. Am I missing something or do i have a incorrect setting that allows me to set a camera in position that stays there, like camera 2 in TSW2021.
The camera shifts or changes because it’s colliding with something. Examples are: The invisible free roam boundary along the left or right side of the rails. For example if you’re crossing a trestle, the camera can’t be outside the narrower free roam area, so its vantage point has to shift. Tunnels, footbridges, or underpasses (as seen in your video). The camera isn’t meant to pass through solid obstacles such as walls or ceilings. This is no different than if you had your head (view) outside the window of the loco, but you’re about to pass through a narrow tunnel. You, like the camera, aren’t meant collide with or pass through the tunnel wall, so your vantage point switches to the inside-cab view. I have no experience with TS but I’m guessing the difference is that you can’t walk around in TS, so there is no need for invisible boundaries that would constrain where the camera could remain while in motion.
