About This section of the overland route would be about 109 miles (175 km) running between Oakland and Roseville. The line would feature both passenger and freight services. I would like to see it set in 1960. The operator would be Southern Pacific with the possibility of seeing it some of its locos from subsidiary St. Louis Southwestern Railway (SSW / Cotton Belt). Freight There would be several through freight, local industry and shunting opportunities. There would be several rail yards, including West Oakland Yard Richmond Yard Ozol Yard Sacramento Yard Roseville Yard Passenger There would be around 20 passenger trains per day, some of which are listed below. Shasta Daylight 9/10 Cascade 11/12 Unnamed Daily passenger 19/20 Mail train 21/22 San Francisco Overland 27/28 San Joaquin Daylight 51/52 OWL 57/58 City of San Francisco 101/102 Local Daily (inbound to Sacramento) 224, 248 Local Daily (outbound from Sacramento) 223, 247 The list is in relation to the timetable below to help you save some time in finding the said services. 43,44,45,46,60,61,62,63,69,75,76,77. https://streamlinermemories.info/SP/SP60-4TT.pdf Locos EMD SW1200 EMD E8 EMD E9 EMD F7 EMD FP7 EMD F9 EMD GP9 EMD SD7 EMD SD9 Alco RS-11 Alco RSD-12
Black Widow SP power would be awesome. Pity the SP didn't keep that livery around long. It's my second favorite US railroad paint scheme after the Santa Fe Warbonnet. Another 1960s-era SP loco that we could see on this route would be SP's unique Krauss-Maffei ML-4000s. The Niles Canyon RR has ML-4000 #9010 that has been restored to operation, although she has only one functional prime mover. If we get a 1990s version of this route, we could see SP SD70Ms, SD40Rs, SD45Rs, SD40T-2s, SD45T-2s, U-Boats, Dash-7s, B39-8s, C44-9Ws, AC4400CWs, SD9Rs, SD38-2s, GP9Rs, GP38-2s, MP15DCs/ACs, etc. I'd also like to see SP's rare and unique (and crazy powerful) 4200HP SD45Xs in Roseville in the 1970s-80s. SP GS-Class 4-8-4s and AC-Class Cab Forwards needed for SP steam.
