How about an official passenger mode? Like where you could choose either driver, guard, or passenger mode. Passenger mode spawns you in the station.... then you just board a train and go somewhere. A smooth running version of that could be relaxing and enjoyable IMO.
In timetable mode you can start on foot and just enter a train you like and drive as a passenger with it
Old Free Roam (TSW1-3) was basically Passenger Mode, as you could only Ride trains there, not Drive them
Thanks for the suggestion. The thing is, if you do it that way you're not able to pick a specific time/service so when you spawn in you often have to wait a long time for a service to start. I'd like to be able to choose a specific service as you would in driver mode, but just be a passenger instead.
Thats easy done without adding a passenger mode. Just select a train, the service you want to ride in, then spawn on foot at the same time (around 5 minutes before which should give you enough time to get to it) and location and board the train.
Thanks, that actually works. It would have been more obvious to me if you could choose spawn on foot after you choose a service/timeline. I'm still suggesting an official passenger mode. Set up in a way thats obvious even to new users. Seems like it would be pretty simple to just have passenger mode as a choice after you pick the service. The way it is now you have to wait around for 2 minutes, and it doesn't work if you're sitting down. That could be better implemented IMO.
Passenger mode would be great for young children too, particularly with the Thomas dlc being out now which is really hard to use as a passenger as none of the stations have timetable screens.
When you start on foot you can select the time in 5 minute intervals, thus you just check witch service on the timetable you want to ride and set the time and station, and there you go.
yeah, I know. It works most of the time, but not always. It would be cool to pick a service from the timetable and then choose whether you want to drive the train or be a passenger.
