Perhaps I am a bit too early to put this out there but I thought I'd open a thread for creators about to embark on using the upcoming pc editor tool. I thought that I'd gather some suggestions for small projects to sink their teeth into (assuming that it is a usable feature). My personal suggestions are many, but here are a few to get the ball rolling... Locomotive ideas Class 165/1 and 180 for GWE Class 22, 35, 42/43, 117/121, 123 and 128 for DLOGW Class 50 for WCL Route ideas Various branches of the GWE route both old and new such as Greenford Brentford Waste Terminal freight Brentford Docks vintage Colnbrook/Thorney Mill freight Uxbridge Vine Street and Staines West vintage Windsor Central current and vintage Bourne End/Marlow High Wycombe/Marlow vintage Henley on Thames current and vintage Wivelsfield branch for BML or ECW I am sure that many of you have great suggestions to add to the list. I have dozens more but am sure that others will mention most of them.
I'm not going to lie. I am going to sink my teeth in with a short-ish route with a fairly linear timetable but this is a great idea for those. If I hadnt already found my candidate trust me I would try some of these.
I don't think existing content can be extended. You can't edit cooked content so if you wanted to update the timetable, you would have to build from scratch.
All of these suggestions are for new builds and not extensions, even though they effectively connect to existing sections. I believe that they are all deserving of inclusion within the game.
Honestyl we should make a thread of what people are planning on making with the Editor so we dont have constant copies. That'd be a good idea to brainstorm with others and see progress n whatnot.
I wonder if you can make an arrow III 12kv triangle and then carry it over to NEC route. RVL/NEC ALP-45DP Too. If you are making a scratch route I am wondering if it's really possible to have one person do the timetable and send it over to the other one working the road
A few more suggestions... 1st generation EMUs of the SR. Class 456 EMU. GWR Diesel Railcar. Denham to Uxbridge High Street branch vintage. Wimbledon to West Croydon branch pre 1997. Hampton Court branch. Chessington South branch.
Trust me If if wasn't for how many services I'd have to make I would already be making Hampton Court assets in blender
If you want a list of them try asking OldVern about that because he's been requesting a 4 REP 4TC 4SUB
My hope is that TSW4 content creators do not go down the TSC road of making their content rely on fifty other pieces of content. I also hope that they choose a centralised site to upload their content to, preferably an established modding site that is unlikely to go down anytime soon.
If dtg won't make one for PC modders chances are ATS might start allowing TSW content. But honestly expect lots of requirements even of its just freeware
I imagine people might release freeware content on their own sites, but in order to charge for products, it will have to go via DTG and the official storefronts. This would be the ideal method as it stops things getting out of control with requirements like it did with TSC. It's all early days for now, so difficult to say how things will play out.
It's easier to have content uploaded onto a site for download than to share it to each person individually.
Yes, which is why I'm asking for the community to decide on one or two mod hosting sites and upload their stuff there, instead of having it scattered over hundreds of personal websites that are liable to go down.
I am looking through my lists of past projects and some never done. Leaving aside the model stuff where I'll probably cut my teeth, I would certainly like to look at the following... (ex MSTS) Haltwhistle to Alston. Ideal stamping ground for the MetCamm Class 101 and Class 31 on freight. (ex MSTS) Part of the SMJ, maybe Olney to Towcester to start with but ultimately Olney and Blisworth to Banbury Merton Street and Stratford Upon Avon. (ex TSC) Sulitjelma Railway Finnied to Lomi, probably do with DB diesel stock. (ex TSC) Tanigumi Tramway, but using DB suburban electric stock. (ex TSC) Bell to Lithgow plus the ZigZag Railway. That's just initial thoughts there are many more lurking in my mind but best to see what my capabilities are before over committing.
Another one for my list… The Raquette Railway from Carter Jn on the old NYC to Raquette Lake. Did this for TSC many years ago. Only issue would be how to represent the passenger service as we have no vintage coaching stock in the game, let alone anything NYC specific. At a pinch a modern reimagining of the line could borrow the MBTA or SF commuter consist. But we don’t even have an Amtrak diesel to haul Amfleet coaches.
How about a heritage line such as the Nene Valley or North Norfolk. Both shorter routes but interesting enough in real life.
If someone did Nene Valley then I would have to insist they include Helga, the little Swedish Y7 Railcar!
Oh yes, they would have to provide a warning about the volume on the horn though as it's a total beast. Actually NV may be interesting because they have got those continental coaches along with MK1s too which would be interesting. I need to go down there again soon because I haven't been for a couple of weeks and I really do like sitting at that Overton station watching the world go by.
A few more suggestions... Mid Hants Watercress Line. Swanage Railway. Paignton and Dartmouth. East Lancashire Railway. Severn Valley Railway. Also lots of preserved types to run on them.
Plus I suspect this is probably on DTG's to do list at some point, whether heritage era or modern day.
I think he meant 128 and 25, but his two and space button just stopped working and he is disguising the error with the false statement above!
You are correct basically what you're trying to do is replicating what train simulator classic has Huddersfield Line NTP modernized. When you look at the Steam Reviews most of the commenters they're saying it's almost exactly the same as what we have in game but modern
Could dtg not save a duplicate file of the route before one is cooked so they have a backup for extensions?
No need to do that as there is always the source of what the cooked content comes from. But of course the source files are not public at all. So, for customers, it's not possible to edit. DTG can edit for sure if they want.
I'm looking to do some timetables that allow for dynamic overtaking if the player takes too much time (at scheduled stops off the main track). With the dispatch beyond it should be possible (hopefully) if the coming up train is directly behind the player train and blocks the junctions behind the player stop before the player train gets them blocked. Would try that out for Cologne-Aachen. Main-Spessart-Bahn is also interesting for me to add AI ICEs that use the Nantenbacher curve and stop in Aschaffenburg. Maybe also a version of the timetable where the ICE traffic is redirected via the old route. The Hannover-Würzburg route is renovated currently and the section Kassel-Fulda is currently not usable so all ICEs are redirected via the old route and Bebra. So there is definitely precedent for that and would make the timetable more interesting and lively with the already dense freight traffic.
If you are able to do it why not merge both Schnellfahrstrecke Hannover Würzburg Kassel Wilhelmshöhe Würzburg Hbf with Main Spessart Bahn
I am inapt to build routes. Tried that with Trainz and failed. Scenarios/Timetables are quicker to finish and require no modeling, artistic knowledge. Furthermore, merging routes is not possible with cooked content and even DTG couldn't do it. After all, you have two different routes built at different times. While it would be cool to drive from Würzburg to Aschaffenburg via the Nantenbacher curve, it's not practical to do it. The added benefit is also relatively small compared to the gargantuan effort required.
Another one I was pondering is what we could make to get more out of the 1938 tube stock, now Rivet more or less sorted the sound. One idea that occurred to me is all or part of the erstwhile Northern Heights extension to the Northern Line, from Mill Hill East to Bushey Heath, via Edgware. All open air so no need to build any tube stations and a chance to reproduce something that might have been. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&r...usg=AOvVaw3Xeu3psc2C4WDb-fImzTWx&opi=89978449
