I was very annoyed about PC editor to only be on PC. I really wanted to make my own route but I am on PlayStation so I can’t! If this would be available on PS5/PS4 that would be great

    Nope.
    No.
    Impossible.
    Ludicrous.
    Insane.
    Wishful.
    Not Achiveable.

UE4 is NOT a tool for consoles - Its a game development software - it wont work for playstation.

It is literally impossible. If you want to create stuff you'll have to get a PC.

Trying to make a route on a PS4 would be like trying to make a full Christmas dinner for 12 people with nothing but a toaster and a wooden spoon. It’s not the correct equipment for the job.

I just hope, that Editor routes and trains are sharable to consol, since it would be a great source to gain more tsw content for everyone, but creating routes and trains on consol doesn't make any sense, just the share option should be a thing for consol

The amount of work required just to get UE to run on console is immense and in fairness to DTG it actually is impractical. Let alone using a controller.

The editor is not a fancy version of TF2, it's not even close to TSC. It's a completely different application that DTG and many third-party studios literally employ full-time staff to use.

The only thing you can hope for is console sharing.

On another note, it will be interesting to see if console users with a PC could still use the editor without having the game itself installed.

I think its been said that the editor is separate to TSW4 so I would say so.

Don't quote me on that though.

    That's an interesting idea.

I think it's on epic for free and I think its sepetate given steam players can also use it. But I'm not entirely sure yet. Guess we have to wait till the steam to fully understand

If the editor comes to console it will be very basic appeared to the pc version and have limits put on per console generation. At the moment for DTG is to get a shearing in for pc to pc and console in before they probably think of getting the editor on console

Having watched the first half hour of the route editor presentation, I think the last thing you want to be doing is trying to create with a joypad. This is something where keyboard and mouse are essential IMHO.

I’m really not bothered about having the editor on PS5, but I would like to have access to routes that others have created as well as any changes made to existing routes. I hope DTG can bring that to PS5 at some point.

Doing timetables on the existing routes will be lovely. Timetable upgrades to Long Island railroad, Brighton mainline and Munich will be definitely get done

Agreed. I already have £325+ worth of TSW on Xbox and don't really fancy having to buy TSW4 on both it and a PC for the sake of the editor.
We may buy the license for our own platform but I don't think having cross-entitlement shouldn't be considered.

Now that you mention it, though, perhaps Xbox* users can access it through their entitlement to the Microsoft PC store version...

*Sorry PS players, this ain't for you.

The only way for console players to access the PC editor is that you need to have an Xbox account which will then entitle you for the Microsoft PC store version which will have the editor installed

They said on one of the roadmap streams that the only place the editor is available will be the Epic Store. At the start it will work with Epic and Steam Versions only, not the Microsoft version as it has its own file structure.

So it won’t be downloadable with the Microsoft PC version and won’t work with it either.

So I don’t see any option available to Xbox or PS users at the start.

Why do you want to work with the Editor with Consoles? It would be much better if we consol players would only get the content everyone creates, otherwise the rest ist manageable with a PC

Just watched the stream. Editor is wayyy to complicated. I'll leave it to the PC folks thank you very much. ;)

The editor is not a childs toy or roblox studio. You can't just port it over to console lol

The PC Editor is not a DTG product. It wasn't developed by DTG. They added certain tools to it but at the core it is the Unreal Editor and that is simply not available for consoles.

Unreal engine is a platform for pc, not consoles. Developers develop using unreal engine using a pc, not a console. Lot of other major games have editors that are pc only. That is a fact and you will have to live with it unfortunately. Probably sharing is all consoles could do. But the hard truth is that the unreal editor can only be used on pc.

People instead of being greatful for game being released on consoles (let's be honest not all developers like porting game to consoles and then maintaining different game ports) they are yet gonna complain that application, which is literally developer tools which is used to make entire games, is not avaible on console.

You should really get on the ground, not everything is achievable on consoles and it was your choice to play on it, instead of investing into good PC.

Seems like I'm of the minority then.

I am grateful TSW is on console (which is why it was developed anyway).

Does it suck the editor is PC only? Yes. Do I care? No. Why? Because I invested in this game on console, knowing full well that there are certain limitations I would have to live with, and am content with just driving trains (which is the main purpose anyway).

Good to know there are also console players who acknowledged their choice and what consequences it can have in the future.

Unfortunately at the moment not but it is still managable in the future. There definitely is no other reason to bring in the Editor to Consoles, since it doesn't make any sense, only sharing would make sense, since it's just like a normal add on for TSW

Sharing is the priority I think for dtg at the moment so we can get player made route, timetable, trains. But the future a console Editor of tsw could happen or not

Yes, I agree, the most important thing is that edited content becomes shareable to consoles, otherwise we'll quickly get left behind.

I'm interested on the editor on my PC, but this would need cross-licensing. Aside from the technical hurdles, there's no real reason for DTG not to do cross-licensing, as the number of people with collections on two platforms must be vanishingly small.

It would be nice if we had mouse support for the PlayStation version. It would make getting creative less stressful.

As an Xbox Series X player I can say for certain it would be a complete and utter NIGHTMARE to try and make an even decent route on console.
I'm saying that as someone who has a mouse and keyboard plugged in, it probably would struggle to run correctly, it would have constant performance issues etc... Basically, I'd rather have it be PC only and having the possibility to one day download it from the Creation Club rather than having them try to port it and make it run on something it wasn't supposed to be on.

I think that's the plan. I think dtg said that editor creations will be able to be shared on creators club
