How long did you wait? The first load will be quite slow. You should be able to install it anywhere as it will auto detect your game install.

Just wait for a minute or five and it should load fine. Atleast here I managed to download and install the editor without issues and it loads much faster second time you open it.

Mine was slow around 40% then spent ages going from 70 to 73%, then I looked away for a short while, went back and it was suddenly finished.

If you are used to unreal engine you will know the phrase “compiling shaders” which is what it is doing when it gets stuck. Just be patient and go get a coffee (or 2 if you have less than an 8 core cpu or less than 32gb Ram. Second load will be much faster though. This is the game dev engine in the raw so needs patience

You need to start TSW4 before staring the editor. it is not very fast, but in the end it will work. Then you will see it starts compiling shaders.

Today the editor does not start for me, according to the display it is at about 45% and the "small" points in front of it do not move, more. According to the task manager, there is no CPU load on the application and it also uses "only" 422 MB of RAM).

Yesterday it started perfectly. (I have but no project begeonnen just wanted to see if the editor start because I first had another error where he claimed he would not find the TSW4 content, what I thanks to the forum here yes behben konnen. One solte yes there before mas TSW 4 Start).

Today, however, he does not seem to want. Even after 30 min no change apparent. (Still at 45%).

Since my system is relatively well equipped (CPU with 10 cores with 3.7 GHz and 64 GB RAM and two SSDs it should eigendlich not last so forever).

What could be the cause and how can I fix it? According to information it should be no problem that I have the editor in the EPIC store and TSW 4 in Steam correctly? Or does it cause problems if the editor is on one SSD and TSW 4 on the other SSD?

Getting stuck at 45% is pretty normal for the regular UE4 as that's where it's compiling shaders (I think) however it should happen with high CPU load. Keep in mind that UE4 can create sub-processes like the Shader Compiler Worker so the load just on the main application might not always be relevant.

Also shader compiling is one of those processes that take time no matter how good your PC is.

Also, when did you last run TSW4? If it was a few days ago, launch it and then close. Then relaunch the editor. If you have had it open recently, just leave it for a good while and see what happens. If no change, try verifying files in Epics Games Launcher.

However, there is almost no load (max 1-3%) on the CPU which comes from com taskmanager, steam and other small programs. So that apparently the editor crashes at startup.

I started TSW 4 as suggested, played a tutorial, finished and then started the editor. How does it stop at 45% (without seeing much load on the CPU and even after 1 hour it is still at 45%.
After that, as suggested before, verified the data via the Epic Store and fetched the process again (i.e. TSW 4 and then Editor), no change needed.

Interesting now is the following test. I went to the user folder (the default Windows user folder) => Documents => My Games => TrainSimWold4. There is a folder called "Intermediate" next to the Save folder. If I cut it out and put it on the desktop and start the editor, it runs within 4 minutes and I can work in the editor. (When starting the editor the folder "Intermediate" is created again in the above mentioned directory).
If I now close the editor and then want to start it again, it stops again at the 45%.

Does anyone know why? And what this folder is? It is created automatically by the editor, but why does it prevent the second start of the editor?

That suggests an issue with your install, which means the registry may not be correct. Also, if you're using the Microsoft Store Edition, that will not work. Only Steam and Epic Games Store. If you're on Steam or Epic, it may be worth validating your game files too.
