Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place. I know computers. And I know consoles. But I have avoided PC gaming for my entire life. And now I’m trying to teach myself and my son at the same time. So TSW2 is on PC Game Pass. We got through the tutorial for SPG with one crash, mainly because the eight year old started flying of the mouse around and I hadn’t adjusted the graphics at all. But now unfortunately I can’t open any of the routes. My main question is, from a troubleshooting standpoint, is this an Xbox version of the game? Or is it the PC version of the game that matches the steam version and epic game store version?
Well, it's none of the above. It's a unique Microsoft-PC version, slightly different* from the Steam and Epic versions and entirely different from the console versions. *By slightly different, I mean that they are identical from a user perspective, but they aren't compatible with one another
So it’s safe to say whatever system specs exist on the PC version, don’t necessarily apply to this version. I’ll have to note the error message I get next time we open it up. It’s certainly not the most powerful laptop in the world…
I venture the system specs are the same; the only differences are the peripheral "hooks" which link the PC version to the specific vendor and their store, Epic, Steam or Microsoft. I think the real purpose of the free GamePass version is to get users hooked so they'll pay money for the Steam, Epic or console edition (note that there is no DLC available for the MS version) Be advised, however, that DTG's published "minimum specs" are really subminimum.
Actually this is kind of a good thing. I have the game on my console, but it’s my son who’s playing it on his laptop. He’s just really happy driving a big freight CSX locomotive. I was actually quite surprised he sat down for a whole hour and just drove the thing. Which surprised me for an eight-year-old. So I’m actually kind of glad there’s no DLC to tempt him.
