Steam Pc Sometimes Hangs When Toggling Off Steam Overlay

I wonder if anyone else experiences problems with the Steam Overlay while playing TSW5. Doesn't always occur, but has occured to me multiple times so I doubt it's a coincidence. It always happens when toggling off the Steam Overlay and thus trying to turn back to the game. But instead, the whole system hangs, sound repeats the same second over and over again, temp display on my machine goes dark and after a few second background apps like a music player also stop. Machine doesn't respond to Ctrl-alt-del, so the only way is to force it off by holding down the power button. Haven't had it happen in other games, but admittedly I don't use Steam Overlay as much in other games.

Anyone experiencing similar problems or know what could be the cause?

it is a problem with steam overlay versus hardware gpu acceleration
just disable that one

i had those crashes too btw

 

I use Steam overlay and don't have such problems.
