Hi, just had the latest update incoming, which affects the Pegnitztalbahn, as I've found the notch descriptions for the ICE TD have been localized. (Also two scenarios removed) Being a control freak, I've diverted the update to a secondary installation, just to find something that has never occured before: I noticed the PegnitztalbahnAssets.ap only has half the size as the previous version. Upon checking the archive, I found that the .ap archive is compressed - which has never ever been the case to my knowledge. This would slow down loading I think. Here's the comparison - left the previous installation, right the updated assets. DTG Jamie DTG JD DTG Matt please check if .ap compression is allowed - all DTG assets have always been packed with ZERO compression. Happy to get a short feedback from you.
From my past experience of compressing game files (not necessarily RailWorks) is that it always breaks sound or video files, I'd be highly surprised if that wasn't the case here also, I think Mr packager man (isn't that the lovely Danny?) might have inadvertently clicked the wrong setting.
Agreed - this might bring issues that are not instantly apparent, and as I'm not in the mood for lengthy testing, I've kept the old files.
Bump. After checking some other threads and reports here, I'm under the impression the Technical Reports subforum is being completely ignored by DTG. That's quite a shame to be honest. Do we still have a community manager for TSC? While I know it's hard for you to instantly comment, just an acknowledgement in the form of leaving a "Helpful" would be polite at least. After all, we are your customers. Don't forget that.
I didn't do this build I was out of office for most of the week - so I think it was more accidental than anything though. (it was his first attempt at a live build - but I've passed this on next time he does one ) (I don't ignore technical posts - most of them I either can't reply too, or have no knowledge) Edit - the Update, as far as I'm aware was just Chinese Localisation being added.
Danny, thanks for your answer. Though it was pointed at Reef, I'll add some thoughts. This does not change my dissatisfaction in general - your colleagues in the office that I've pinged did ignore it. Also that I've pointed out the Castlerock assets are packed in a way that they don't show up in the game - no reply yet. No one cares - or no one has knowledge, and this is a big reason DTG does have the bad public image it has. If the same thing happened with Zusi 3, you bet I'd have an answer - be it a confirmation or dismissal - from the lead programmer Carsten Hoelscher in a matter of hours. I would show a little more appreciation, because there's a lot of stuff in this game that has been fixed by the community - helping DTG and the players.
Not really sure what you want me to say here - I mean I can't really answer for the community team I'm sure they probably get a lot of messages but then again I'm not part of the community nor do i speak for the company officially. (I do care, and have fixed some stuff pointed out - but sadly most of it is not up to me - I'm essentially a grunt in the decision making parts )
Hi, apologies you didn't receive a response immediately. We've had some absence early this week, so the team has been a little thin on the ground. Thanks for jumping in atomicdanny.
