Is it just me or are the brakes weak on this train

 

The brakes are fine.

 

It has a 7 step brake notch. They are perfectly sufficient. I only use the first 3 notches anyway. Sometimes only 2!

 

Brakes are too powerful in fact and needs toning down a bit.

 

I disagree. I think they are spot on (well to me anyway).

They are only really sharp if you go into the higher notches of braking application (above 3). I think most high speed units/locos in the UK have extra notches compared to 100mph units?

I can't say I have... I presume you must have driven them in reality to have the opposite opinion?

From the driver training videos I've watched the performance seems spot on. You can watch them on YouTube to if you're interested and make your own mind up?
