So in recent days, it seems like Pentrex started to upload full version of a few of their DVD shows to Youtube in full length. For those wondering, Pentrex is a company that make mostly US related railway programs So far there is only 3 programs available, which covers street running, classic NEC, and when UP sent Challenger 3985 to CSX's Clinchfield line for their Santa train. Some good watches if you wanna pass some time. (Note, embed plays are not enabled, so you have to watch them on Youtube itself) https://www.youtube.com/@pentrexvideos Street Running Under the Wire Union Pacific's Clinchfield Challenge
I remember paying $24.95 or thereabouts plus shipping to the UK back in the day for some of these. Mind the same thing happened here with the UK Railscene (Jeremy English, RIP) suddenly turned up on YT. Of course much of the material is quite old and VHS quality so doesn’t look good on modern 4K and large screen TV’s.
It's not as awful as you'd think, I watch some of the older Pentrex stuff on my OLED TV at home and it looks old, but not enough to detract from the experience. I'm just grateful that such old footage was captured in the first place, especially on the NEC where things changed drastically in the 30/+ years those recordings were made (I really miss the old "air gap" at the west end of Penn Station, it was a great train watching spot).
