I can manage a pretty stable 30-45FPS on all other routes, yet for some reason San Bernadino and Barstow absolutely tank my FPS on Cajon. I can barely reach 20FPS in both areas, but once I leave the areas and get into the route it's all 45FPS and good performance. I know this isn't an issue with my hardware, since comparably dense urban areas on other routes, as well as areas with lots of static rolling stock like Hoo Junction, do not effect FPS as much as Barstow and San Bernadino do. Edit: I was partially mistaken, I do get a higher FPS in Barstow than I do in San Bernadino, however still significantly less than what I'd expect from a yard in the middle of a desert.
This was an issue on the earlier Sherman Hill, thought to be due to the route builder using high poly grass assets way out beyond the lineside. Could be something similar but seems like optimisation needed!
I've noticed that fog can really negatively effect FPS too. Running the route with dynamic weather on, I'll drop 15 FPS if fog rolls in. Seems to be just fog as well, blizzard conditions that also have the fog effect applied tank FPS as well.
Thank you for letting us know - I've flagged with the team. Can I confirm which platform you're playing on, please?
On XSX I can confirm that rain storms and fog absolutely tanked my FPS here too, easily getting 24 and lower in 4k mode.
I play on PC. If it would be any more beneficial, here's my specs; AMD RX 570 8GB 16GB RAM (8x2) Intel i5-6400 3.3GHz Windows 10 Home Edition
