I know that the performance on the Series S/X isn't ideal with the blurry textures and popping audio so I was wondering if anyone in the community knows what the performance on the PS5 is like? Does the PS5 version suffer from the same issues or does it perform better? I'm tempted to make the jump to the PS5, although it would mean having to repurchase all of my existing content.
I not have a ps5 but what i can read here on the forums it make no difference. Thats also not how the problem is. This is a console wide issue. I would not recommended to change and spend youre money on it. Only real solution is to change to pc. Its frustrating but to change to PS will bring nothing more.
The PS has less issues than the Xbox in terms of sound quality & Z-Fighting issues, along with actually offering a better draw distance for scenery. The main texture issue though is a big issue on PS5 also.
Audio popping is a big issue for me on PS5 but it is route and stock dependent. By far the worst on Riviera Line Class 150 and 802, but also present on Class 220. Not noticeable on Class 165. Also noticeable with Class 395 on SEHS, but not with Class 377, 465 or 700. Not significant on any other line I have, including WCML South, Brighton Main Line, East Coastway, Suffragette, Bakerloo, ECML South, GWR, Birmingham Cross-City (with 170) and more. As for textures, Mildmay is the only line I have problems with. By the time I get to Highbury and Islington, all the signage is pixelating including labels on trains and TfL diagrams.
An update on audio pops on PS5 … Cardiff City Network was updated in November with new audio for the Class 150, as per the Riviera line. I now get the same audio pops and crackles with the Class 150 on CCN as I do on the Riveira line. But playing exactly the same route with a Class 153 is fine, no pops at all. So the audio issues are definitely linked to particular assets on a route. For the Class 150 as it stands, these issues will become more widespread as older routes get updated, until Dovetail finally fix the problem afflicting these sounds.
It’s not the routes that have the issue, just the rolling stock. A few other units have the same issue (BR 218 as an example).
Same here. It does help when I remove some of the layers. Mostly those AI layers that you can hardly see anyway (around Kings Cross and St Pancras).
Honestly, as a PS5 player, I have not had a lot of these performances issues so many people appear to be mentioning. I don’t know if that is because I used to play train sim classic perhaps, so I have gotten used to the odd stutter etc here and there. The Riveria line is one of the best performing routes available in the game IMO. And this is regardless of which layers I have enabled.
