Some fantastic shots there Nathan, it's always nice to see 380s on the ACL, I can imagine the whistling they make while they arrive and depart, sadly up here it is a diesel line at the moment (planned electrification by 2030) If you look on the Real Railway Pictures thread at the top of the page, you'll see some pictures of some traction I saw, which oddly enough are included in my Scottish East Coast Mainline thread, I think you'll like them
Ooh. That sounds nice. We also have some detail on the ACL in the form on Class 156's running between Stranraer, Girvan, Ayr, Kilmarnock and Glasgow Central. Thank you for your kind words!
No problem, it's nice to hear from a fellow Scots train enthusiast you know I also added some info about my tea afterwards lol
I love those photos! The look so great. One of my favourite trains is the Class 158, so it's so nice to see some photos of it. P.S: Good choice with the Chips, cheese and curry. That's my favourite thing from the chippy. Sounds like you had a nice day.
Haha I either go with that or a 9' meat feast pizza, Yeah the Arbroath-Dundee services are mainly 158s but can sometimes be substituted by 170s, but that's only occasional though, good thrash, sat under the engines as well , it's like music to my ears, those Cummins power units
derek#2931, I love the photo of the Class 320's at Glasgow Central. It really shows you how big the trains really are!
You can never beat the good ol' Dusty Bins, can you, what's your opinion on 320/3s (original 320s) vs 320/4s (converted 321s), I'll include derek#2931 in this too, my opinion of Dustys is that the /4s are better, ex LM 321s, thrashy beasts, especially on Lanark services, (I have never been on a Dusty though, I'm going with YouTube videos I've watched over the years)
Well the 320/4s have a louder traction motor I’ve noticed especially between Motherwell and Lanark but the 318s tho OMGGGGG
Never count out the Dusty's partner in crime, which is equally as loud as a 320/4, the units I dislike appearing on Argyle Line services is the 334s, I think they should be restricted to Airdrie-Bathgate services or Airdrie-Balloch services, leave Dalmuir-Motherwell/Cumbernauld services to 320s/318s. Personally I do like the Junipers, just not when they are not on the Airdrie-Bathgate services, there is no need
Say that again lol, I see 88007 on the front , good to see 88s on nuclear flasks alongside 68s, but nothing can beat a Tractor hauling flasks, oh yes
One of my best tractor moments was at Kilmarnock with ROG 37884 dragging a 318 for refurb and when he reversed into bonnyton depot OH BOY the clag and thrash!
Well 68s and 88s look similar the only differences are 88s have pantographs and 68s don't, and most notably, 68s are 68s and 88s and 88s
Wish I witnessed that, I have seen 47593 Galloway Princess pass through my village last year from outside my bedroom window, thrash = 10/10 and could hear it growling away for about a few minutes after it passed, sadly don't have a photo, it was back when 593 was doing driver training for a future LSL trip from Aberdeen
I also seen a 47 at Kilmarnock with a west coast railways railtour and a newly painted WCR 47 on the rear and I kid you not when it left it was as if it was a steam engine in disguise
When I think of a Statesman Rail tour, that the locos top n'tailing are 47593 'Galloway Princess' and 47853 or 47805 and 47810
It counts as Scotland so I’ll send it XD (Disney cruise lines Disney Magic moored at Greenock ocean terminal)
Did it have 47815 'Great Western' in BR green on it at all, if it did, that came past me while I was in bed sadly, but it went from Aberdeen to Auchinleck with 47812 or 47813 in newly painted WCR livery, so could have been Aberdeen-Auchinleck NB (Northern Belle)
