If you are talking about the M.2 drive I have used the 2tb of this one. WD_BLACK SN850X 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD, M.2 2280 NVMe SSD with Heatsink
I bought a Gigabyte AORUS Gen4 7000s 2TB NVMe Solid State Drive (PCI-Express 4.0 x4). (this was in 2021). At the time it was £299.99 They are on Amazon for £283.56 There is an internal slot where this SSD will go. You also get to use the original 5xxGBssd that Sony install as well.
Do games automatically download to the SSD when the regular storage is full, or can you specify which drive is used. So for example, I could put all my TSW content on the SSD and leave the standard storage for other content.
https://www.techradar.com/best/best-ssd-for-ps5 I went for the WD Black. Works fine. And yes, everyone tells you that the heatsink is an absolute MUST.
I've got the 2TB version of this also. Easy to find on sale, easy to install and set up as a 2nd drive.
I currently have a Gigabyte AORUS SSD in my PC and it's great but I would say that any SSD from a reputable manufacturer will do the job. https://www.gigabyte.cz/components/AORUS-NVMe-Gen4-SSD-2TB/Key-Features One thing that is important in my opinion though is that you should always go with about double the capacity compared to what you will need (so that the usage is around 50-60% max most of the time) in order to make sure that the wear optimization can work properly. If you fill it up to 90% or more, things will degrade a lot.
I have every single piece of TSW 4 content going. The TSW 4 directory all DLC and Game = 280.1 gb The TSW 5 directory all TSW 4 DLC* & Games =318 gb * TSW 5 has not yet downloaded but the TSW5 dlc (oh joy) but has allocated the DLC needed from the TSW 4 DLC Structure. For the record I have both TSW 4 & 5 installed on the SSD (Red Dead Redemption and GTA plus Cod MW3. So you are ok for room if you order a 2 TB SSD lol. Hentis
I’ve bought and installed this WD_BLACK SN850X 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD https://amzn.eu/d/hFNPISx Should tide me over until the PS6 arrives.
Unfortunately not the easiest advice to follow, as while most suppliers treat me as an SME customer for all the 8TB drives I keep buying, stuff like Nimbus' exadrive options are a bit out of my price range, and I am not sure where else I'd be able to grab one with that much space :P
