Having just jumped ship from Series X to PS5 this is very welcome news indeed as I try to rebuild my collection. Cathcart added today As much as I've maligned it in the past, hoping for discount on Fife Circle too maybe just in time for the 158 timetable to be added. Hint hint !!
How are you finding tsw on ps5, compared to series x? I've been considering changing, I can't stand the Zfighting and audio popping on xbox.
To be honest, other than loading times being quicker I've not really noticed a huge deal of difference. I never really paid much attention to the Zfighting (I even had to Google what it meant when I first read about it on here). Only really played Blackpool Branches on it so far (my favourite route still) and there is still some slowdown between Poulton and Layton. Really enjoying the PS5 controller with the game as much as anything. My main reason for switching was that Game Pass just felt like less and less value (especially after all the Yakuza games were removed from it) and there are far more games suitable for me on PS Plus. Only been "over" for about a week but the machine has hardly been switched off since. Just noticed too Fife Circle is also in the sale now for just £11.99. It's a pretty crummy route but picked it up as a bargain at that price and I already have the 158 too.
Cathcart for 80% off is an absolute steal. One of the most unique routes is the game, and it just got brought up to a modern standard with the big patch last year. Big recommendation for anyone who doesn’t have it yet. I’m thinking about getting the BR 363… just a few bucks now, and it provides a ton of services and thus populates sidings with stock on all kinds of routes. Also noticed that the Railbow ICE thing is very cheap right now. Does anyone know if the additional ICE 1/3 livery variants from that pack also layer onto e.g. Frankfurt-Fulda? Would be a great way to make the ICEs look a bit fresh while playing. Apart from that, I’m keeping my hands off the discounted routes for now. I’ve got a pretty sizeable collection, and there’s lots of cool stuff coming in the next few months.
Yeah, getting ridiculous, most routes on sale regularly but those two were just once and never again. Frustrating.
Cathcart discount is only available on the European Playstation store. The US doesn't have the discount
Yes indeed. I have enough of the Class 66 but I really wanted this pack, as it adds more scenarios/timetables and the Dellner coupler. I didn’t want to pay full price but finally here we are.
Further to what I posted previously, can anyone confirm if the £11.99 offer on the TSW5 Standard Edition is tied to the Network subscription or whether you can just buy it on top of the existing TSW5 (free) version and the three routes drop on to play in the normal way? The description is very confusing on the storefront.
Yes, I did this with TSW4 where I owned the standard edition on disc, but just before TSW5 came out they had the deluxe version on offer on PS store for 8 quid or whatever. Bought that and the loco addons just appeared in the list as usual If you buy the £11 standard the three routes in the bundle will appear in game as normal once they finish downloading even if you "bought" the free version prior
Yes in the end I took the plunge and it seems to have worked okay. They are not the best routes in the game and WCMLS will feel a bit empty without the Pendolino, but at the equivalent of £4 each it’s an offer you can’t really turn down. Same again next year with the TSW6 routes!!
welp xbox got a sale now too and somehow salzburg there is 50% off why cant that be also for playstation sales??
How are you finding WCMLS without the pendo, Vern? I only really like UK stuff, but for €13 I'm a little tempted.
Haven't fired it up yet as I've still got a NTP run going. I suspect it will feel a little empty, though.
After buying the pendolino and the HKA wagon add-on in the last offer, WCML has gone from being a bad route that I never played to one of my favourites!
The Pendolino really adds a lot to the route. You constantly see them flying up and down the mainline when you’re driving the slower trains, there seems to be one every few minutes. And the driving experience on the highspeed services themselves is also quite cool. The approach to London is pretty unique, it’s not just a purely segregated and sterile mainline like on many other UK and international highspeed routes.
Have to say it does feel a bit empty without the Pendolino. Also, I don’t think you get the 710’s for the DC Line in vanilla either, just the 1972 LT stock which is only going to cover Harrow to Queens Park. Still, I was quite impressed just now taking a limited stop service from MKC towards Euston on the PS5. Maybe it comes across better on the big screen than when I play the PC version on the monitor, though relative distance the visual experience ought to be about the same.
The pendolino and the 710 add a lot to this route. The route itself is now much better than it was at release (better timetable and better performance). Wish they would give Frankfurt-Fulda the same love.
