Why won't my marker pins or series markers show in the Editor? I enabled my source folder and when I click on the 'Route Markers' button in the editor nothing is showing up in the list nor will series markers display along the ground. Could someone please explain how to set up markers from 3d modelling the pin in Blender or 3ds Max including the name of it in either program, the setup of the Blueprint for both pinned and series markers. I have tried everything and nothing is getting either my pinned or series markers to show in the editor. This is heavily delaying my routes progress 'Please help'
The best way to do markers both named pins and the route line is with TS Tools (formerly RW Tools), set up your developer and source folders from the appropriate menu then convert your markers fully. Why bother making your own pins, just ensure the Kuju Rail Simulator in the provider menu in the route editor is ticked along with your own provider and product.
I need pins for a reason, I've set up pins in google earth so that I will know where the bridges, viaducts, level crossings are in my route. Yes, I could use 'MapTiler' to bypass the google maps api key stupid requirement. But the thing is that I can't see anything in satellite or aerial maps so I can only use street maps using MapTiler, this means that I can only follow road and track lines to the best I can, I could also set up a google maps api key but google hates Australia too so they give us the worst imaging on the face of the earth. So why should I set up a google maps api key when maptiler does exactly the same thing 'Poor satellite or aerial maps' So, if someone can tell me exactly how to setup the 3d model pin in Blender or 3ds Max as well as setting up the blueprint this would be really appreciated. I really also need to know how to set up those series markers too 'Legit there's no tutorials'?
I don’t think you understand how this works. The named pins you place in Google Earth are saved from MyPlaces to a suitably named kml file. Let’s call it myroute.kml In TSTools, set up your Provider and Product for the route. Cityrail(say) as the provider and myroute as the product. This will automatically create the route folder hierarchy in both the source and asset folders for your route. Then go to the route utilities and find the marker function, select convert fully option follow the onscreen prompts to identify the extraction folder and your kml file. Execute the process and the markers will be placed in the route folder for you. So long as you have the Kuju Rail Simulator box ticked, these will appear in the route with the marker flag, just F6 to show the name. You might have to go in and out the route, untick and re tick the dot box to enable route markers a couple of times, but they should appear. As I said, so long as you have the original Kuju R/S asset pack installed there is no need to create your own flags or pins.
You're sure that the EuropeanLocoAssetPack is needed for this (Kuju\RailSimulator)? Aren't these pins part of the core assets which are always active (Kuju\RailSimulatorCore)?
You might be right but ISTR always having to tick thr Kuju\RailSimulator which I took it as the European assets. In any event if that is the case, even harder to understand why the OP is trying to make their own marker flags!
Your absolutely right, I have no idea how it all works! I can tell you this. 1) I have setup markers in Google Earth saved the markers as kml and used TS Tools to convert the markers to csv 2) I have setup my developer folder, I used the 'Developer Examples' to create these and just only discovered that I could have used TS Tools to automatically setup the developer folders 3) I have created a 'Scenery' blueprint for the marker 3d model and I've created a 'GPS' blueprint for the markers csv file it's all setup as it should be based upon MattPlaysTV's tutorial for creating route markers. The 3d model pin marker is setup as a 'Flag' in the GPS blueprint. I checked marked my developer folder in TS Editor and nothing is showing. This is where the problem is! I just can't even get any of the markers to show up in my route so I will know where exactly the bridges, viaducts, level crossings are within my route since I'm basically blind sighted as I can't use Google maps api due to poor satellite or aerial maps as stated before. I have a fair idea on how to build routes and since it only took my around 2 hours to build my Queensland route on a flat-earth terrain. I thought I should fix it up and the only way that I know how to build routes is by using markers. I even just tried to setup a series marker, again I saved it as kml from Google Earth and converted it using TS Tools to csv. Then setup the 'GPS' blueprint which apparently doesn't require any 3d model for the line to be drawn onto the terrain, just change the colour in the blueprint 'I've got it set to be a bright red colour' and no series marker is showing up either. What I am saying is, I can't get the names to show in the Route Markers list. I can't see any GPS line marker, I can't see the 3d model pin/flag even though I have selected my developer folder in TS Editor. It's really frustrating me. I can't even find any tutorial or guide on how to correctly setup the marker pin/flag in Blender or 3ds Max. The part name I've got is 1_1000_RouteMarker_Pin what should it be called?
