The Dovetail Store which has existed in game since TSW1 has not had an interface update since to match the improved UI and functions. I feel it is time to spend some time to improve it to fit better with the rest of the interface and to be easier to navigate with more useful information. The main page should contain filters (loco/route. owned/unowned, region, type of services (freight/passenger)) and a search function. You could also add tags for commonly searched for terms. It would also be cool if it could suggest some content based on what you already have in your collection. Highlight/promote new DLC as well as DLC that are currently on sale. Each DLC page should list information that you currently have to dig for: what layers on this route/what this route layers on, included locos, compatible loco DLCs, traction type, types of services provided and link the related DLC directly from these pages. The length of the route, the number of services and scenarios, a full route map (hopefully NOT using the in game map), and a supported features checklist should all be included as well. Currently the description (on Playstation at least) contains a large amount of legal text. It would be nice if that text was moved from the description and to a separate area.
When TSW first came out the loading screens contained nice maps showing station names, it also had information on each loco included in the game with stats on each. You could dust off the designs on those to use for an improved store page, as a thought.
I do totally agree regarding the layers front. It can be a pain in the backside trying to figure out what goes into which dlc. We shouldn't have to find old threads or articles to figure layers out really. I wish they did a JT style page and just listed the layers off. I check the BPO page on the announcement of the route and all of the layers were listed as well as how they interacted with the game
Another filter you can add (if possible) is a "Content you own but is not installed" filter so that we can see when Addon manager isn't finding our content and/or content isn't being installed correctly it is easier to troubleshoot for both the users and the DT support staff.
On my PS5 I'm seeing route bundles where I already own all the routes in that bundle. It would be nice if those could be filtered out of the store when you own the routes included as well.
The Dovetail store has a really annoying habit of not showing you the items on sale till you flick to the end and the flick back and then it will show the trains/routes on sale on PS5, not sure if it happens on anything else. Another really annoying feature is trying to select a route or a train etc. It makes or forces you back up to the top of the screen for the highlighted items, so you have to constantly click down to where you were to slide the selection along to then be forced back up the top of the screen again?
The in-game store is a very confusing and buggy mess on PlayStation, I always buy my add-ons in the PlayStation store instead and not in-game.
