on the survey there voting number for dlss/fsr and dx12 witch i hope that the numbers are really really high. please vote high for the feature. this dose mean they have to update the unreal engine to 4.27.2 to add these feature. right now train sim world 6 is running unreal 4.26.1 and been this way for few years now... and it time i think to update. the version supported for unreal 4 for dlss is 3 and up. dlss 4 for unreal 5. i don't know what version of fsr for unreal 4.
I'd personally didn't vote for them as I'd rather they focused on fixing the core and bringing it up to a better standard at the moment. Generally big core updates and changes to the game tend to cause more issues than they solve in the scheme of TSW.
100% The question which talked about where to concentrate DTG efforts.......fix the core before you do anything else is my go to. Enough 3rd parties now developing routes and add ons. Fix the base and every single one benefits from it.
No thanks, other items are more important to me. That’s kind of the point of everyone having individual access to the survey.
Surely it should be up to individuals what they decide to vote for, not swayed by what other users want. Plus the exhortation is a little late, most people have probably already done the survey.
i want bug fixed as well but honestly the window is too short. this time next year were going to have bunch of new bug fixes to deal with. i kind of think dlss/fsr might improve things maybe blurry texture issues also might be able to increase draw distances or object popping on both pc and console. but if there no need. then this game will be stuck on unreal 4.26.1 forever.
Here's a thread from two years ago in which Matt goes into some detail on FSR/DLSS. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/train-simulator-unreal-engine-5.76804 DX12, meanwhile, may not be officially supported, but it is available through a startup flag and has been used by many without a problem for years and through many TSW versions. In both cases, I'm not sure the benefits of DTG spending actual time and money on them outweigh anything else.
DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) and FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) are nVidia's and AMD's respective methods of rendering a scene at a lower resolution and then upscaling it back to your native resolution. In GPU limited scenarios (where your graphics card is the limiting factor in your framerate), this can significantly increase FPS. Let's assume your native resolution is 3840x2160 (4K). By using DLSS at a certain setting, the GPU is actually processing the scene at a lower resolution (let's assume 2560x1440) and then using math to scale it back up to the native resolution. These features can have a massive benefit if implemented properly. Matt himself has said DLSS doesn't make as much sense in a game like this since it is CPU-intensive. This is true. However, there are many cases where the GPU is still the limiting factor. I have an i9-12900KS at 5.2GHz and a 5090. I play at 4k max settings and am GPU limited. CPU maxes out like 60% utilization
All the more reason to support DX12, which moves much of the processing burden from the CPU to the GPU
i have 14700k with 5060 ti at 1360 x 768 game runs fine. the editor can use some improvements if possible like dx 12 or dlss/fsr. unless dtg also thinking about people that run this game on laptop.
FSR would in theory help free up some memory on the consoles as it would be upscaling from a lower resolution, while it wouldn’t fully fix the blurred texture issue it would likely delay their onset.
The survey is about an individual’s views, anyone running a campaign, like this one, is missing the point completely.
Is it your first day on earth because the concept of a survey isn’t that difficult. How important do you think you are that you can just come on here and tell people what to vote for?
