So DTG have done it. The first "big" TSW route release, London to Brighton, has had some good reviews, there are bugs, DTG are on it I'm sure. It got me thinking about what is next for the UK after Cornwall and the new rolling stock already announced. Not necessarily what I want DTG to release but what seems logical. I have no insider info. So, I reckon; Next 3rd rail route - London Bridge to Gillingham. Next 3rd rail DLC - Desiro City (Thameslink and South Eastern for above route). Next retro route - Leeds to Carlisle Next Diesel Loco - Class 55 Next AC OHL route - London to Peterborough Next AC rolling stock - Class 365 Next Metro System - Merseyrail Next Scottish Route - Edinburgh to Dundee. Next big surprise - Eurostar London to Paris. Yep. I think they will go there. Shoot my ideas down, come up with your own predictions. I'd love to know where people think TSW will go next. DTG may also find it interesting.
London to Paris would probably be too long given Brighton is struggling at 55 miles with all those services and the fast running. For Scotland, would suggest Edinburgh to Glasgow is equally as likely. Personally I'd like them to surprise us with something like Fort William to Mallaig, maybe tied in with getting steam traction in the game. S&C a possibility but really has been done to death in all the other sims, even Trainz. The thread about the Class 50 could point to something Western for a retro route, maybe Salisbury to Exeter but more likely Exeter to Paignton. 3rd Rail, any number of possibilities but I could see something South Western having more appeal than another route out to Gillingham. Waterloo to Basingstoke (maybe) or perhaps Windsor and Reading. Metro - I reckon they will stick with another LUL route, maybe the Circle or District Line.
I would also prefere to focus on rolling stock to add layers to existing routes. For example thameslink to london commuter, cathcart needs a refresh too ...and so on. Add the gatwick layers to eastcoastway would be something.
But there's an obvious issue with layers atm and until they can address it properly, they shouldn't be looking at adding layers to routes already struggling with current layers.
