Collectable items were introduced with CSX HH as a feature to encourage players to explore the route on foot. While they served a purpose at the time, I'm not so sure we need them anymore. What do you think?

I liked them for two reasons-
    Gain a reward
Makes you get out on foot and explore everywhere.

So I hope they are in TSW2

Most of the collectables I enjoy collecting. It can help familiarise yourself with parts of the route.

I enjoy looking for the collectibles, it gives you a chance to explore the route in a way that you do not get when flying up/down the tracks in a train.

They are not important but they are a nice addition because it’s interesting to walk around the route and the jobs give some purpose to that. I don’t know how anyone could find them all without using a guide though, seems an almost impossible task to me.

Definitely. Guides are a must. Especially were collectables are between stations in the middle of nowhere.

I’d like to know where every donkey is, there are supposed to be one in each route, but I haven’t seen a single one on my own game.

I think they're a great additional feature which give you good reason to explore stations and some areas you wouldn't otherwise see, HOWEVER, the ones that are randomly placed in the middle of a track section, miles away from anything are a proper waste of time and energy. So tedious having to walk for miles to find them with nothing interesting to see when you get there.

100%! I enjoy getting a guide up one afternoon and just smashing each collectable in one sitting
