Just thought I’d create a thread on safety system understanding in TSW only and which ones people are good at using and the ones people struggle with learning Let me know if I missed any, I’ll add them to poll ASAP extra Infomation key; AWS - Alert Warning System DSD - Driver Safety Device PZB - Punktförmige Zugbeeinflussung LZB - Linienzugbeeinflussung SIFA - Sicherheitsfahrschaltung ATC - Automatic Train Control ACSES - Advanced Civil Speed Enforcement System ETCS (accident misspelling in poll (no way to edit)- European Train Control System TVM - Transmission Voie-Machine KVB - Contrôle de Vitesse par Balises Integra (Late entry to poll) - Integra-Signum DRA (Late Entry to Poll) - Driver’s Reminder Appliance personally it’s ETCS/TVM/KVB & Integra I wouldn’t select ETCS - not used much to remember it TVM - I know what it does, but avoid using as I don’t particularly like it. KVB - I don’t understand it’s use properly and haven’t taken time to learn properly Integra - not used much to remember it
I have to say I've found ECTS confusing to use on the Luzern route. I've not really gotten my head round the different modes. It does sound like ECTS is the "golden standard" these days, as Germany is supposed to be converting to it from their systems. And of course the East Coast Main Line is in the process of being converted to ECTS. Which makes me wonder: Does the Azuma in TSW4 support ECTS and could we expect a signalling update in the future?
I doubt it’s coded/programmed with ETCS in game but I haven’t actually seen its internals to check for definite. ETCS I’m not totally keen on, but that’s quite similar with TVM. PZB is more fun.
In Norway we use the Swedish ATC system so I know that one, together with having learned ETCS as it's coming to the Norwegian railroads. All our trains have SIFA so I mean yes. Except for that I'm slowly learning the others while playing TSC and TSW.
I only really know the safety systems on the British railway network (apart from the TVM and KVB on the 395). Not really surprising as I don't delve into foreign routes often, but I find those systems complicated so never bothered to use them.
I know PZB, LZB, SiFA pretty well from the game. However, I know ETCS as I am very much an SBB fangirl and my aunt tells me about it
After learning PZB/LZB, I have mostly stopped playing UK routes (Except Tees Valley Line, SEHS and NTP as I love those) because I now find German safety systems far more challenging, entertaining and enjoyable. PZB/LZB may seem difficult at first, but honestly, stick with it and don't give up. It's really fun and rewarding once everything comes together!
The Etcs system is growing, and more infrastructure is getting equipped with. Sometimes a lot of vehicles are beeing refitted with ects, even if the stock is in its second half or third part of its lifespan. And its reality not just in germany.
Mirel is fun too. It has aspect repeater that shows you in cab what next signal will be (with live changes!), but whenever it dislikes something or loses connection for a little bit, it immediately starts generating brake curves out of sudden. It's physically present in Vectron (small vertical display with +, -, enter buttons), but not implemented.
