Just trying to find out which edition you’ve got your eyes on!

I’m personally undecided between the Standard and Deluxe Editions right now! I won’t be able to fully take advantage of the early access due to a trip at the end of September, and I’m unsure whether the loco add-ons personally justify the 15€ price hike on the PlayStation store (even with the discount applied). My mate however is very excited for the Vectron, so he’ll likely go for the Deluxe. And what about you, what is your thought process?

Deluxe, for the Vectron and Vorarlberg. It seems to be the economical choice with the pre-order discount, I see it as getting two extra routes for (roughly) the price of Vorarlberg+Vectron, which I would've bought at any rate.

Deluxe with 3 routes 2 locos for 55.99 dollars on xbox and and 52.99 dollars for PC. can't beat that price versus 39.99 regular price for just one route

    Deluxe for me too.:)
Can’t see MML having any further update, but hey, I’m willing to be proved wrong.;)
Despite my uk only routes collection, I am curious to try the Austrian route so looking forward to that as well, bizarrely :D

Standard because deluxe is expensive, but hope the Scostman will be avaiable in future apart for standard

Deluxe for me. Want the Scotsman and vaguely interested in the Vectron, plus early access is a nice cherry on top.

Probably the one that will be included in Humble Bundle sometime next year... unless Union Workshop's Japanese route will release earlier.

I’m gonna go with deluxe depending on what I see and hear over the next few weeks.

I think it’s very important to make sure what DTG actually plan to release upon launch, I simply don’t trust their “this is coming soon” spiel.

I like the Vectron and fancy a dabble with the F125 & 801, so price wise I may aswell go with the deluxe considering the content for the price.

Picked up Special as I didn't have two of the routes. So worked out cheaper than buying them separately.

Special edition if I can afford it. If not then deluxe edition.
EDIT: it's pointless for me purchasing special if I'm getting charged for 3 routes I already own just to get upgraded when I might get a free upgrade for them. I'm buying the deluxe edition

Deluxe. I want the US and Austrian routes, so at $52.99 it's a no brainer.

I’m leaning towards Deluxe, I know I’ll want the game and while I usually wait for a sale on everything these days, the 20% is tempting me to preorder. If there is a holiday or spring discount it probably won’t be much more than 20%

The updated Dresden route is what’s pushing me, is this a free upgrade if you already own the route? It sounds like a $30 stand alone upgrade, but not sure if it’ll be available to purchase at launch another way?

If I’m going to buy the upgraded version I want as much material to go with it as possible and getting a discount is tempting. Just don’t want to buy anything bundled I already own.

I thought standard gave us the three routes?! I’m going Back to the FAQ!

Deluxe. They had me we with the Vectron. It's like they knew I was not going to fall for a steam locomotive.

Got the standard edition. Not really that interested in the Vectron and Scotsman, and already own Riesa-Dresden, so not worth spending the extra money on deluxe.

And well, special edition got even more stuff than I already own.

It’s a free upgrade for everyone who already owns Dresden-Riesa, but it’s also included in the deluxe so those who don’t have the route yet can properly enjoy the Vectron.

Deluxe edition for me too. The European route looks like it will be very interesting and scenic. I would like to try the Vectron. Also although it is a cliche locomotive I like the idea of taking Flying Scotsman along the ECML, the Azuma in LNER livery looks good too. The USA route looks like a good combination of freight and passenger in a different setting (for passenger at least),.

    Not sure yet.
The routes aren't enticing me much except the US maybe. I'll watch the streams.
It's not the money, it's the hassle of the transfer.
Probably deluxe, or wait for the JT route, or Christmas sales.

p.s. hopefully with the editor out there fixes will finally get done.

Deluxe is preordered. With this, I get all new content at once and I already own the older routes, which are featured in the Special Edition.

I'm thinking standard, as i really want the ecml but personally am not interested in the steam traction.. i was even considering buying the uk only option at £29.99 for ecml only (as other than arosa i only drive uk routes) but i'm very interested in the new austria route, so for an extra £10 will likely get the standard edition

only thing almost tempting me with the deluxe is the 5 days early access, but i won't have enough free time until 3 days prior to launch, so for just a few days i'm thinking standard is best for me

i'm not interested in the usa route myself.. nothing against the route itself it's just not for me, the ecml is more than enough for me and the austria route is a nice bonus!

I put standard in the cart since I already have Dresden and don't care about the Scotsman. I'll hit the purchase button later next month after more info comes out.

Bit of a no-brainer for me. I'm only interested in Uk routes. Not really bothered about Austrian trains. Looking forward to the Just trains route. Not sure if I will purchase eon launch day though. Might wait and see what chaos ensues!

Probably none. At this point TSW doesn't seem to offer anything new that interests me. Wake me up when Union Workshop finally releases their first japanese route - and seeing the trends, we will be at TSW5 or TSW6 by then...

The tail end of this year is going to be hellish for the bank...
CoD MWIII, FC24, TSW4 and Cities Skylines II.
    *gulp*

For that reason alone I'm leaning towards standard (I do already own DRA) - £32 isn't bad whatsoever for a pre-order.

Don't really care for Scotsman and I don't want to jump into it with no experience whatsoever with a Steam Loco - I'll play with the Training Center 8F first.
Likewise, the Vectron I'm not overly fussed about.

Not overly interested in Antelope but I'll take it as a bonus to ECML and S-Bahn Vorarlberg.

If I magic another £40 out of thin air I'll go deluxe for the Vectron/Scotsman but for now I'll sit with Standard.
Just bought Watch Dogs Legion on sale and Edinburgh - Glasgow, so I'm holding off.

What a time to be into gaming, eh?

Deluxe for all the routes, especially Vorarlberg and Antelope Valley, plus the Vectron which I'm probably looking forward to the most. Scotsman does not really pique my interest but I'll take it. Even if I own DRA already it's still the best choice for me.

Deluxe already ordered by me. Mainly for the UK content, but mildly interested in the Antelope valley route. Scotsman on the ECML will be cool!

Standard, to check out Antelope Valley Line within the steam refund window, then refund. Then depending if I'm happy or not, buy the US bundle at a later date (Depending)

I voted for and have already pre-purchased the standard edition. I have no interest in the Flying Scotsman & Vectron, so this offered the most reasonable upgrade path for me with the loyalty discount applied

Shortly before release now, so I thought this would be a good time to talk about the topic again!

Based on the streams, videos and articles we’ve gotten, has your choice changed? Or are you now planning on getting a different edition? Which things have positively or negatively surprised you?

I’m going to decide between Standard and Deluxe on Wednesday. It mostly comes down to the Flying Scotsman, because the Vectron really doesn’t appeal to me as someone who isn’t particularly obsessed with freight.
Don’t get me wrong, it seems to have been recreated amazingly well. But it doesn’t reinvent the wheel in any way. You get a few mostly standard freight services on the two supported routes and (I believe) the substitution on all the others. Unless you’re a freight enthusiast, the loco won’t make much difference. Considering that making it part of the deluxe will expose a freight loco add-on to many “ordinary” players, I really thought they’d bring some additional spice in by doing some unique services and scenarios… that hasn’t happened. Perhaps a passenger version (yup, they exist) will be part of a gameplay pack in the future or so.
The Flying Scotsman will really have to provide a special experience. I’m expecting unique services (if that’s possible on the rather unremarkable stretch of ECML they chose) and especially scenarios. The modeling and sounds will have to be great. I want to get the experience that I’m riding a glorious and special loco along the mainline, not just a “normal” steam train. If that’s not the case, I can still pick up the add-on on sale in a few months and save some bucks.
Point is that I firmly have my eyes on the 1-3 months section of the roadmap, which will probably be a rather expensive endeavor for me. Thus, I don’t want to spend any money on content I may not be eager to play… and I’m not sure if that applies to the two deluxe locos or not!

I'm happy with my choice after seeing the streams. I'm glad I chose the Deluxe edition as the Vectron really has stolen the show so far.

I bought Deluxe without thinking too much about it. Vorarlberg would cost €35 individually and the Vectron would probably cost €18. Which is the same Price as Deluxe Edition. So for the same Money I get 2 Routes and a Loco Add-on for Free.

Undecided yet. Want the Standard plus the Vectron but not the Scotsman :-D But I think it tends to the Deluxe because I don't want to wait for the Vectron to release and come to sale seperately :-D

Probably ECML or the package when they release scotsman for individual purchase (no point me getting deluxe as I like UK content). Whatever lets me have access to the JT route at some stage which honestly feels like its going to be the real flagship route for the game at this stage :D

Same. The only things catching my interest are the Vectron and new SKA timetable. That's not really enough for me to spend money at this time. Even then, I will also be very interested to see if DRA is better or worse with the OHLE and TOD4 "upgrades." But I do see myself purchasing TSW4 at some point, at a discount and/or if something really significant drops, like the spectral Japanese route. If not, I don't suppose it will be too much of a wait for TSW5 (bug fixes for TSW4 included at no extra charge!)

It was always going to be the deluxe edition for me because of the two extra locos. Those two locos couldn’t be more different which is nice. There is a good spread of train types in the deluxe edition, just as it should be.

Very soon and for a few quid more we can add JT’s route and fill in one gap in train evolution that will make TSW4 as diverse as you can get. Arguably the Pacer will outshine both the Flying Scotsman and the Vectron just like it did in real life. A lot of players will be buying TSW4 in anticipation of adding this fixed wheel freight wagon with a bus welded to it and experiencing the very best of British engineering on a budget. No train has done more to encourage car ownership in the UK than the Pacer. It brought back third class travel, something that had been missing since the early days of steam. It’s the kind of train British people would vote for in a referendum just because it is British. It may have degraded their level of comfort on their commute but by gum it was British and therefore as good as the royal train. God Save The Queen and all that. Oops, went off on a tangent there.
