Giving its coming to the end of 2023. I thought i would do a poll to see what we all thought was our favourite DLC that was release for TSW3/TSW 4 in 2023. I have found a list of what was released in 2023 and put them in a poll below. Thought would be interesting to see what we have all enjoyed this year.

I should add you can add more than one as well I set that option to on.

    Seasons greetings to you all.

    My top 3:
    1: Vectron
    2: Voralberg
    3: Linke Rheinstrecke

Off course, I can only take into account the DLC that I actually own. As I only buy stuff that is discounted, I haven't bought Blackpool or Niddertalbahn yet. Only exception to this rule was the Vectron. Sounds were just so good on this loco that I decided to pay full price

Included Midland Mainline in my votes, but only since this week’s patch.

Sadly not a single DTG route in my top 3.

I’m not always a fan of polls but I think this is a nice idea and will hopefully trigger some good, positive discussion.

For me it’s an easy one - Blackpool branches by a mile. The best TSW DLC in a very long time - perhaps ever.

That was the plan I had. Take all the content we have had this year put it into a poll and it shows users (who frequent here) what the best dlc has been for them and could possibly help others who may not think something is good look at the votes and go oh I may buy that and pick it up and venture into something new.
And of course have a good discussion. Thank you for your comment and great points.

What is surprising me really is how low a vote the steam stock is getting yet this is something DTG spent a lot of time focussing on. Is it a case of steam is not really something users want in the sim and DTG should put focus elsewhere

The physics for the steam locos, no manual firing, no coal and water being physically consumed just to name a few reasons.

There's really only 2 US DLCs that are somewhat decent.

The Acela and the NS Heritage pack, the rest are letdown.

Antelope Valley suffers from poor scenery, and questionable choices with freight.

New York Trenton has its timetable and launch issues and bugs.

The BNSF SD70ACe of the Loco bundle was disappointing

And the UP Heitage liveries are the most shovelware pieces of DLC I've ever seen next to some of the junk we get on TSC.

I have voted for my two favourite routes, not all the things I like or that I think was good. There are some people who have voted for loads, completely misunderstanding what favourite means, and one person who has voted for all the DLC and therefore can be seen as voting for none, Deduct one vote from every total. Polls are fun.

    I voted:

    - blackpool branches because the extra effort went intothe dlc.
    - niddertalbahn as my favourite tsg release also because the extra effort into scenery and detail

    - the vectron as my favourite loco dlc
    - s bahn vorarlberg as my favourite dtg route
    - peak forest as my favourite dtg steam route (just had complaints about the timetable which will get a refresh now)

    - mainz koblenz as my favourite 90s german route
    - bremen oldenburg with its strong well made time table

    1. Blackpool branches - excellent route with high attention to detail, even with 1980s cars included!
    2. Midland Mainline - only since the recent update, which has now made this a really nice route, especially with the new tanker pack to add freight services.

I had to go with Blackpool as the lead choice because it is so well done with the stock, scenery etc. That and I'm very familiar with pacers of the later engine and transmission type so it was nice all 3 variants were included.

MML came in second now it has had improvements and the crashing on PS5 has been solved. The class 158 sprinter is nicely done and nice to drive.

In 3rd, ECML especially with the layers. There are still a few niggling matters to deal with but it's one of the better routes to drive.

ICYMI, I pretty much mostly drive UK routes and much prefer diesel stock over electric.

Here to add, its probably difficult to make a conclusion with for example the new petoleum tanker addon on this list, since such packs are very welcome in my opinion, but wont be a "most favourite tsw4 2023" dlc.

So uhh may I ask why so many folks like the Class 700? Is it just a case that playing anything besides the PS5 version of TSW makes it so that the train actually uses its lights and the sounds aren’t straight up unpleasant to hear? Just frustrating that for me it’s one of the worst add-ons in the entire game and yet it seems the general consensus is that it’s really good. Confusing!

I don't have any problems with it (apart from no passenger lights in the dark on AI trains).

Can't really comment on sound as they aren't my local train, but from what little I've actually heard, they don't sound too bad to me.

Well the passenger lights by itself is not very ideal I’d say! I do quite like seeing the interiors of other trains be illuminated, just some strange sort of joy it gives me I guess.

The running sounds on the train are just really bad for me however, I use the exterior boom camera often and moving it every 45 degrees or so produces a really bad sound transition that doesn’t happen on any other train that I know.

There are very many things that frustrate me about this virtual train

Out of ones I currently own dispite it's release I do enjoy MML quite a lot.

Unfortunately I don't own BPO yet (give it a few days).

    Not when you're role-playing passenger it isn't.

But it's more an issue that affects multiple trains anyway.

Blackpool Branches for me. JT have come into TSW and smashed it out the park. The immersion is more in this route than any others I’ve played, the pacer modelling is great, and I’ve been playing this more than other routes I own which says a lot. I’m very excited to see their future output! They’ve raised the bar!

Not a poll enthusiast, but I did vote in this one.

I think Acela and the NS pack were the best Loco dlc.

I voted for NYT, not because it's very good at the moment. It isn't.
Nevertheless, I've played it the most.

And Blackpool Branches because it's a throwback to the early quality of TSW.

*Blackpool Branches and Niddertalbahn --> Its popular because the way they are made, a lot of detail and ambition went into those projects. So many extras created with a spirit to make the dlc as good as possible.

So what does its say? "BR blue doesn sell well" seems the lowest and laziest possible DTG excuse i ever heared related to TSW. Sorry to bring it to a point, but its just what went through my head after seeing the poll results

Blackpool, Niddertahlbahn and the Vectron. Why? Because the 2 routes and DMU's Are exellent and the DTG Vectron loc is exellent. Great scenery and much love input into the routes, and trains/ locs. And great sounds on all 3. What you give is what you get. Heart:)

Personally, These are my Top 3, Starting With the best

    1. Blackpool Branches - Probably One of the best UK routes in the game, amazing scenery, timetable, variety and route diversity, and of course, the good old pacer

    2. Niddertalbahn - One of the best German routes in TSW in terms of scenery, has a relaxing environment and quaint feeling.

    3. Dresden Riesa - One Of the Best German Routes in the game in terms of timetable diversity, and variety, and with the recent TOD4 upgrades and addition of the Vectron, the route is even better.

    Voted for:
Blackpool Branches - best historic route
Scotrail - keeps me entertained, nearly finished all timetable services
And MML because it's the best 'modern' diesel route.

It’s just so well made. The Vectron is generally a popular loco too.

Right up there with the DBAG 101 for me.

Been watching this with interest the last week and what I noticed is the highest rated routes are created by 3rd party which I find interesting.

3rd parties usually do better than the main devs. They have more time and want to be the best they can to make a good first impression (tsg, just trains). Even in tsc, there were 3rd parties such as AP who made more detailed trains.

I went with LFR. It’s probably not objectively the best on the list, but my favourite. It’s German. It’s vintage. It’s vintage electric locos. All of the things I love.
