There's a lot of polls here, most of which have no purpose, or are vague enough in their wording to be pointless. Or they are just pointless altogether. Perhaps, like new accounts needing approval on their first post, the same thing needs to be applied to creating a poll. Or remove them altogether.
Agree. Think there was a time when polls were not generally allowed and while that’s going too far we currently have the confrontational and rather pointless one which seems more aimed at inciting people to boycott TSW5 or whatever comes out later in the year.
I also agree. It was better when they were turned off. I can’t think of any polls that have actually had a useful outcome. They generally try to lead the discussion in a specific way. A well written post that invokes a discussion is far better. I generally ignore them now. If I think the post has a point, the. I’ll ignore the poll and just take part in the discussion. If a poll is deliberately trying to get a negative response and I’m in a childish mood, I might just click on the answer they don’t want just for my own amusement.
I don't really understand why people hate the polls. We can't expect everyone to be statisticians, and polls are generally out of the way anyway. You can engage in the discussion and pretend the poll was never there, and that would probably work much better than removing posts altogether anyway. If we had to, I would make it so that to make a poll, you had to scroll past the 'post' button. It feels like you need to make a poll to fully fill out the form before posting a thread to me.
I'd say only DTG should be able to make polls, because they will have a purpose and need for customer preferences.
I only support polls so I can do another TSW World Cup this year as promised. We are getting close to the old days of before the ban, though.
That World Cup was fun, and since you should already have credibility from having done one, hopefully you could get an exception if necessary.
